Find something you love (or at least like) to do. Don't worry too much about the money. If a person is unhappy making 60K a year, chances are he would be unhappy making 600K a year. You just want to make enough to pay the bills because not enough money can make you unhappy.

Do what you love. I am 31 and used to work at Oracle in the Sales Consulting practice (out of their offices in the Dunwoddy, GA area), I made decent cash but was miserable pitching DB software apps. to tightwad IT and purchasing departments.

Strategy Consulting to DotCom (ebiz strategy...fun while it lasted) to Banking and now I have my own Golf Business (retail, range, etc).

It's quite a change from the corporate world, but, much more rewarding since it's my own business and I report to no one but me, myself and I.

Sometimes, it takes many years/careers, etc. to find out what you truly want to do in life. So, try not to stress too much...you're young and have a lot of time.

Im over a decade older than you and im always looking for new and exciting opportunities! So, do we have any real estate developers or restaurant owners in here?

Own a company that's healthcare related. Started 1990 from nothing and now in multi-states(offices),zero debt and very strong growth & returns. Know the value of the dollar to succeed! Plan & budget both in business and personally.
You Always want to show a profit in both!!

Started and still own company that makes software to automate and secure big inbound mailrooms .(After 9 Corporate Jobs/Moves). Sounds dull I know, but competition is light, and takes me into some cool buildings/companies/Govt facilites. Love it some days, wish I never did it other days. (Having lots of employees is a PITA)

But the "company car" get's to be a TT!

Advise: Always set Porsche related achievement goals.

Example 1: Own Porsche 911 variant 5 years out of School. Did it on the last day (even though I had a new kid etc...) Granted it was a "needs work" '76 Turbo, but goal met.

Example:
Be able to walk into a dealer and buy any Porsche I want, on the spot, by 40. Met just 3 months shy of 40'th. (Disclosure: I can't really afford it, and I didn't really buy it (lease)). But I must be somewhat successful as my credit score alone got me out the door, and no one outside Rennlist will ever know the real truth)

Next: At 50 be able to still drive any Porsche I want, but also have a Track beater that I can afford to (both time and money) trailer around to 6 or 7 DE's a year. (Note I will have 2 kids in college then).

Lots of luck. Can't "plan" a career, so just keep making the next right decision and it might add up OK.

It seems like its the general concensus that most people own their own businesses here, or work for themselves.

Its a goal for my father too to be successful in his own business. He flies for the airlines, but he's actually incorporated now too i guess in his own little business. And what he wants to do, is buy a MIG-21 and sell rides on it. The MIG-21 is a supersonic aircraft, so the bonus will be that customers will be able to break the sound barrier. And after the flight, the customer will get a plaque and photo in the cockpit etc. Right now, its happening slowly. But after the jet is up and running, i think he'll be able to make big bucks.

Hehe. There are no truths, only perceptions. An appellate judge I once worked with formerly stated that we went to a school of law and not a school of justice.

I write and draw comic books, animation, and live action. I've been doing that since I was a teenager.

Besides, I get to draw a lot of cool cars for my books, featuring a 944 in the next issue. I plan on featuring at least one different Porsche an issue, for the main Heroine.

I have had a much better time being self employed since I hit 30, when I quit caring what others thought. That's when things got better for me.

I have been a multi-millionaire twice, between owning a computer company with R&D, and a NASDAQ corp., and losing everything. But that was because I think I really was miserable with the companies, owned them with my exbf. The third time will be a charm, from my own projects.

My goal is to own a house with a 6 car garage, and obtain different Porsches, all in black on black. I'm totally sold on the Gemballa, I am DOOMED, I tell you! Doomed to succeed!

Which reminds me - after seeing Noel Blanc's car collection, I decided to collect what I love - and never see his chauvinistic face again. When I left his place, he smirked, and asked me what he had under the tarp in his front driveway; I told him a '57 Edsel, without him raising the tarp, and proceeded to walk away...his jaw hit the driveway, and I swear I could hear his father say, "That's, that's, that's all, folks!"
