Default 1st Time at the drag strip

Went and had a few runs.
It was a blast. My fastest time was 12.475@ 117.40
I think I found a new hobby.

Your reaction time was pretty horrible...a little practice should cut that to 1/4 sec or less. I'm not sure, but I think that messes up your 1/4 mile et. So... with no other changes but a better reaxtion time, you could be in the 11s. That is hauling. Good work.

Reaction time has nothing to do with ET. The timing system does not start your ET until your front tires break the timing beams. The more important issue in drag racing is 60 ft time. Basically, at these speeds, every .1 sec you can shave off the 60 ft equates to .2 tenth reduction in ET. Unfortunately, barring a missed shift, the whole 1/4 comes down to the first 60 ft. His car has alot more in it that practice will bring out. I took my Stage 1 to a 12.0017 @ 117 with a 1.9 60 ft time. These cars arent the best drag cars anyway, although that doesnt stop me from taking to the 1/4. Kevin

Why would you take your Porshce to the drag strip? Learn a little about going fast on a road course! Who cares how fast the thing accelerates? Everyone knows there fast.... see if you can figure out how to steer it and use the brakes at a REAL racetrack. It's ALOT more fun.

R5, there are many on this forum that enjoy their cars to the fullest but in very different ways.....concours, garage queens, autocross, rally, track, DE, full race, drag, car shows, spirited road driving, crazy road driving etc, ah we all seem to get along pretty well, maybe you will learn to play well in this sand box also. gareeb may be able to drive circles around you at the track and I be he already knows how to steer and use the brakes and I dont even know him!

R5 Turbo 2:

I understand I am a bit of an imposter over here on this board, as I am not a TURBO, but a SUPERCHARGER, (I understand both are considered types of superchargers) but REALLY, you should play more nicely in this sandbox. I second everything the good Dr. said above, especially in light of your newbie status of "2" posts.

Didn't your parents teach you the saying.
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
