Need a Floor Jack to Fit Lowered Car
I have an '01 with the Techart coilovers. While I love the new ride and ride height, I cannot find a floor jack to get under the lift pads properly.
The height is lower by around 1", and neither of the 2 jacks I already have will fit.
I know I'm not the only one out here with a lowered car! Ideas??

The cheap way is to cut these to size and drive on them before you lift the car. Stagger multiple if you need more lift.

It has a 2 3/4" clearance.

Are talking about one to throw in the spare tire wheel well or one for your garage?........For the garage the Griotts 77744 is hard to beat ($599 and 3 1/2 inch clearance)........or they have a heavier on that actually has a 2" clearance for a couple hundred less.

Actually I have 2 needs for a jack, but I already have 1 taken care of (sort of).
My 1st need (less exciting) is to have a portable but good jack for my Mercedes in case I get another flat tire. Have you ever tried to change a tire on a 4,000# car using a 1 pound stick of metal with a crank on it? It just doesnt work. For this I bought a 2-ton chinese floor jack at my local Target store for $15. While the price is awesome, I don't think it will last until next year, so i may have to return it.
My 2nd need is for my Turbo so I can swap wheels when I'm @ the track without having to pay $10 per wheel to the track shop. Obviously it must be compact and lightweight. Also, it has to have very low clearance. There is an awesome aluminum one on Ebay for <$150. It has the appropriate height clearance and weight, but I fear that this is just another "Chinatown Special".
I know that good floor jacks are $400+, but I really don't want to spend that much unless I absolutely have to.

I have the AC Hydraulic that Jack mentioned. Best jack I have ever owned. Actually has a lower saddle height (3") than any other jack I have seen. For the money, try it. You'll love it.

I'm looking at the same question. The AC Hydraulic looks like a great jack for the garage (made in Denmark, BTW), but it is a pretty big, heavy piece of equipment that I have a hard time seeing me "throw" in the car to take to the track. TM, you don't say if you trailer your car but if not, I question how portable the AC would be. Norco makes a lightweight (42 pound) jack which might fit the bill and is only a little more money ($500), supposedly made in Taiwan using Japanese seals. Then there is the 35 pound aluminum one from Harbor Freight, in the $150 range, but I have heard some critical comments about both the seal life and the structural integrity. I am perplexed....
But one thing I know-that $15 jack from Target should be treated as a disposable-when (not if) it breaks, throw it out.

The AC DK20 appears to be the way to go. Unfortunately, no one local has them in stock, so I have to order it online. There appears to be quite a range of prices from $230 - $370 + $40 shipping.
Anyone suggest a better way to get it in the L.A. area?

for $149. The only drawback is it's tough to lower it gradually. I have the Zinko 2000 pound jack which is better--not $350 better since it has a sturdier one piece handle and lowers as slowly as you want. If I were buying today, I'd get the harbor freight one.

I have had a couple of friends that bought the Harbor Freight Nascar aluminum jacks. They did not hold up, and one came in DOA. Except for one guy, they all bought the AC jack.
You do have a dilema on what jack to take to a track event with the limited space in the car. I think you should buy a Denali or a Lincoln Navigator, then you will have plenty of room for the jack and other related items. Then since they both have a reasonable towing capacity, a nice 28' enclosed trailer. Now you've got your full size jack and your car at the track with no compromise..... See how easy this is.
