How can you deal with the waiting? Its bad enough that I am down to one Porsche, let alone when I was down to none.

Chad, why will you need the spacers if your having new wheels machined? Is it due to the limited ability of stock or machining capabilities? Seems like an easy offset to attain with out having to use spacers.

Chad: You can definitely fit 12" rear wheels on your Turbo. If you want exact GT2 specs(which I know Fikse makes), go with a 45mm offset --actually, I think Fikse will do 44.5mm. That will have the result of pushing your rear wheels out(towards the fender lip)12.7 mm more than stock. It fits and looks great with the 315 rubber.

cjv, I think if the Bailey's were sticking to the point of inconsistant performance, I beleive you would get a positive or negative boost deviation code, and it would seem to set off the ce lights. Sir, I salute your patience.

CJV,
Keep your chin up. It always get worse the closer you get. Take Rob out for a beer and relax for an evening and hit it again in a day. Clear the mind and enjoy the accomplishments thus far. The rest will come.

Hey Chad
How about installing the radar detector in the rear view mirror. I have seen pictures of people that have done this and it looks great. However you may want to wait and do that the next time the car needs a prolonged stay at S Car Go. For now just take the car the moment Rob agrees and start to play. Don't let him have it back for any work until you have really had a chance to enjoy some quality time with your sweet baby.

Just remember, building it is half the fun - the other half is driving it!!

Looks like this would fit in that space nicely:

I have several of the MoTec components in my 89 Turbo and they are the coolest things to play with especially if you are tracking the car and need logging. You can build a track map from a 3-axis accelerometer and look at the data points along the track. The ADL pictured above is one cool piece of equipment.

Sorry for not providing more details. This is the Motec ADL (Advanced Dash Logger). Typically, this unit would replace the gauge cluster, but it obviously could be used anywhere in the car. The display can be configured to display various information, as well as display warning lights when certain channels exceed preset limits.

You can create several 'pages' of information which display various information. You could have a 'driving' page and a 'tuning' page. Additionally, this *should* be able to connect to the CAN bus of the Bosch ECU and display the data that is collected from the ECU's sensors (I've never used the CAN bus, so I don't know, but a call to Motec USA could probably answer that for sure). This system also functions as a data logger and is very expandable.

One of the biggest benefits of this unit that I see is the ability to add sensors without requiring a forklift upgrade or rethink. For example, with this system, there would be no problem with adding 8 egt probes (6 in headers, 2 after turbos), monitoring for over temp at each probe, and viewing the data after a run for tuning.

I have no stake in Motec and have yet to purchase any of their products. I have researched their systems and explored their configuration software. I intend to use one of their ECU systems in my 944 turbo sometime in the near future.

The basic unit has a retail of $3,500 in Motec USA's catalog, but a number of accessories, as well as installation will be required. It would probably end up costing between $5,000 - $8,000 for the whole package installed. There are a number of Motec dealers in the US and even in the SF Bay Area. You probably would be well served to call Motec USA and get a recommendation of a dealer with lots of ADL and Porsche experience. I suspect Jerry Woods in Campbell, CA is near the top of that list. On another note, Motec is made in Australia, and the prices from the Australian retailers are typically 2/3 to 1/2 that of the US prices.

The V1 concealed display kit is modified to fit within the factory mirror. The detector still has to mount somewhere else. Typically the location the detector is mounted in conceals the laser sensors, rendering them useless.

Most people who do this also install a laser jammer system, which is considered much more effective. Unfortunately, the laser jammer is illegal in California and several other states.

Chad-

Actually, I had the pleasure of speaking to Rob about the DV's. He sounded like a 10 year old boy when he spoke about your car. He was gitty and excited. You could hear in his voice that he was proud.

I told him that if there was any issues with a valve to send it back immediately and we will replace it no questions asked.

How did the dyno session work out?

There is a footnote under the chart. The note says: The above pipe sizes apply to road engines developing 120-150hp per litre. Competition engines developing 200-250hp per litre will use pipe sizes 0.5-1.0 inch larger. That is 12.6 to 25.4mm larger.

I am currently at 202hp per litre. According to Bell, I need 80 to 90mm exhausts. I contacted Europipe and inquired about larger exhausts. Much to my surprise, they will build me an 84mm exhaust. No guarantee's, but I'm going to go ahead anyway. My only regret is I didn't read this book two years ago.

I ´ve been offered with a new Fabspeed exhaust ($2.600) which is quieter from the Fabspeed GT2 version, the car is stock at the moment and we only want to go with a Stage I preparation ECU,(we are thinking of Upsolute) filter and exhaust.

The price for this exhaust seems OK the ruf is almost double the prize, they claim 20RWHP, another option I have is the Techart at around $3.000. In your opinion wich one would you go for? Taking into account the type of preparation we are looking for (the car is used for normal driving, traffic, highway, and some spirited driving).

Thanks

ALEX
