CJV,

There are two additional books that may be of interest to you and worth purchasing:

Engine Management by Dave Walker ISBN 1859608353. IT really talks about aftermarket fuel injection systems like MoTec, but covers the tuning principles. I've found it to be a great resource.

Maximum Boost by Corky Bell ISBN 0837601606. It covers all aspecs of designing and installing turbochargers including compressor maps/sizing, intercooling, cams, etc...It is probably very much like the book you mentioned above, but you can never get enough good information can you?

Hi Cjv

Actually the decision is not mine I have a 964C4 and my uncle has the 996tt (I bought the 964 from him and hopefully the 996tt)and I have conviced him to get more power out of the car without loosing the "comfort" the stock car has for daily driving.

So the easiest way is a modified ECU which we are interested in the Upsolute one the filter and an exhaust, the europipe looks great, but from what I read on their web page seem to be better for 600HP and over.

Actually I would want to stay just with stage I y would like to get 600 to 650hp. But the decision is his...

Thanks <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Thanks cjv

I´ve just talked with Upsolute and they have a branch here in Spain, the price for their chip is around 350$ and they claim aroud 100 extra HP. Is that possible?

Thanks
ALEX

100bhp for just $350 using a chip is too radical. I'm sure it's not for engine longevity.

Forget upsolute, some of their claims are blatant BS -they claimed +100ps for a 993tt and even showed a power/torque curve on their web site until it was explained to them that they were BSing in the wrong market.
I would recommend RS Tuning to you, (www.rs-tuning.de) they will propbably have a Spanish distributor. Their basic ECU reprogram and air filter upgrade gives 485ps and 730NM that is 32% more torque.
Don't expect any form of customer service from this outfit however (like returning phone calls) they are soooooo busy.

Pleased pardon my ignorance with respect to your specific set up Chad, but on the short shifter issue, I would think that you could possible make the shifting TOO short? The synchros do indeed need some time to work, and I think the shorter you make the throw, the less time they have. Now I know that you did work on the transaxle, and change some gears, but what about the synchros?

Just chiming in on this great free-info thread.

While I have never "out-thrown" my sychros on the 89, I have heard that we can only go SO SHORT on the stick without hitting some sort of limit.

And trust me, the 928's 5spd lever, or as I have mentioned before, the board oar, needs some quickening.

cjv- I've noticed on my Evo short shifter that it is only shortening the throws into first, third and fifth. Gonna switch to the B&M unit.

Can't wait to see how your car feels cjv. I've been in a RUF turbo R that uses a development engine for RUF's upcoming supercar but in de tuned form. This turbo R was built by RUF from scratch with over 600 hp, it's carrera white with blue alcantara everything and man does that thing FLY!! It's also got RUF's new three piece wheels that look great as well.

Hope all goes well with your car and you finally get to take it home and enjoy it

I really like the IMEC short shifter, not only are the throws super short, but each gear makes a clicking sound and a snapping feel like a Ferrari shifter, letting you know that you are in gear.

It is sweet, and priced competitively.

Hamann- more details on the IMEC short shifter, please? I currently have an EVO and am unhappy with the fact that it only shortens the shift in gears 1,3, and 5. Was going to replace with B&M, but want more than35% reduction. Ruf was another option, but you made the IMEC sound pretty enticing. TIA for info.

cjv- can S Car Go make that splitter without the injector ports? As you know, I'm trying to go with 6 larger injectors, Bosch, probably in the 800-850cc range. That splitter really must reduce turbulence.

Cjv --

I have special order floor mats in my GT2 that I got from By Design. The backs are the same, but the fronts simply say PORSCHE running tip to tail and looks very very classy. I believe these were a special order oprtion for the GT2

TTRob-- I think IMEC R&D's and manufactures their own short shifter. If not, I don't know who the OEM source is, but it's probably some company in Japan.

AJ-- The IMEC shifter vastly reduces the throws in 1/3/5 as well. According to Wilber, each short shift kit generally shortens either the top gears or bottom gears. For example, while IMEC shortens 1/3/5, the Ruf would shorten 2/4/6. Ideally what you would do is install the IMEC and the Ruf to get short throws in every gear. But I believe this would make an undrivable and unpleasant experience.

First of all, your chances of mis-shifting and skipping gears would be vastly increased because it becomes much harder to distinguish the gears, especially under tense conditions like racing or hot canyon runs. I would recommend that most people go with the top, or 1/3/5, setup. Think about it from an ergonomics perspective, it takes a lot more effort to push the gear lever forward than it takes to pull it down towards you.

I was able to experience the IMEC shifter at the track and it really is quite amazing. It makes your shifts so easy and crisp with that nice clicking feel on the upshifts, you will NEVER go back to stock.

The best part is, it's been race proven and a phenomenal value at $300!

If you are interested in getting one, email me at racingfiend@yahoo.com. I don't work for IMEC, but I really adore their products.
