Nice pic!! was wondering, other than the new fancy turbo, what internal differences are there between the 996 to 997 TT engine. Or no internal changes??

I'm sure there will be very subtle changes but I don't think there is anything changed that much, apart from the Variable Vane Turbo, the Intake to the throttle body from the intercoolers looks different and is better looking...but thats all I know...

well then I guess that means our engine is certainly "qualified" to withstand more than the original 0.6 bar boost and so I would still like to know what the highest sustained boost this engine can safely tolerate such as at the track on long straight aways!!

Isn't the overboost limited to 10 seconds? Christophus has a write up this month. BTW, the 0-60 advantage of the tip has been noted, but they report the 0-100 difference as even more. .6 seconds faster, by recollection. I don't recall anything on strengthened internals or gearbox changes. AS

I'm sure the Std 996 TT has a max limit of 0.8bar and the X50 and GT2 have 1.0bar...

This will change according to air density...moders flashing the ECU usually take it to 1.2 bar...

GT3 is depicted on there website. I also was told that no more GT2's until 2008 (After Turbo S introduction). That is why an 02 GT2 is running $150K.

Over in the UK we are under the impression that we won't see a 997 GT2...
