Is the 5 bar fuel pressure regulator a worthwhile upgrade on a GIAC stage 4 TT? I have heard different opinions- some say it isn't needed until GT640 and above, while I have also heard that it makes a difference on stage 4 under full acceleration. Any opinions much appreciated.

Adding extra fuel won't give you any gain without doing anything else.. However you can burn up your cats.. Now if you installed larger turbochargers, that supplied more air, you would thus need more fuel.. However, at that point, why not install larger injectors and retune your ECU? If you are wanting more power.. I think that the next step is larger turbochargers, ECU tuning, and to give you more fueling..

Marty,
I have the I/A stage 4 and have the stock injectors and fuel pressure regulator. The upgrades on my X50 were Headers, Exhaust, DV's, Air filter and an ECU flash.
Car Runs perfect on all stock, pump and race programs.
I think its the GT700 that requires all the additional bits.

Yes Marty, the 500-520HP to the wheel kit runs off of stock injectors and FPR and levels at 12.1 at WOT under full boost through the range. Adding a 5 bar will not help anything. As Kevin points out it will clog the cats and foul plugs at idle.
Again, go back and do a search from 3 years ago and you will find tons of info on these types of kits.

I have been running a 5bar FPR for around 10,000 miles on my level 2 with no ill effects... The reason I have it is I was running our level 4 before which requires it and I just never swapped it back out...

Since you are running no cats, you won't risk them.. Thus the rich condition being re-ignited by the hot turbine wheel/housings=flames
