Default INSTALLED PSI 480 ECU !!

I installed my PSI 480 ECU yesterday and was amazed by my car's
tranformation !!!

The first thing I noticed and perhaps the best part of the changes I felt
is how EARLY the boost comes on !!! Early boost = torque = fun.
I will try to post some boost levels at various rpms this weekend
on my "Wisconsin Dells Fun Run" with fellow rennlisters.
It pulls very HARD and Early and I only see .9 bar registering !
It also appears to have found my "weakest link" because after a few
hard pulls in third and fourth gear I have developed a miss under full
throttle, full boost acceration.
Possible cause ?? I have original #5 (cold) plugs in but more importantly,
they have 32,000 miles on them. I will change them tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks again to Neil Orton @ Orton Performance for all his help
I am very impressed so far with my PSI exhaust and PSI 480 combination,
it has exceeded my "seat of the pants" and "cool sound" expectations !

I have the X50 option and car drives the way you describe now and my boost max is also 0.9. I have been thinking of an ECU change but I may have "enough" performance from what I have? Especially when the misfiring starts. That would ruin my track weekend!! I'm going to watch your transformation and try to learn safe reliable upgrades!!

According to PSI's MAHA dyno chart, peak torque is at 3900 rpm's !! that is very low,
and that is what I am feeling--strong pull in very drivable RPM range.
(I know, I know, we all love dynos, but ask some of the experts, these Maha's
that the race teams use overseas are very "conservative"
Peak Torque == 639 Nm (I believe is 472 ft/lbs.) at 3900 rpms
Peak H.P. == 486 H.P. at 6150 rpms

Tom,
The mis-firing is only because the '01s used a "colder" plug than '02+

Marty, how much is the PSI chip?

Call Neil @ Orton Performance (678)-947-1437

It depends on what package you buy, but it is not on the inexpensive end of the spectrum.

I agree with the plug causing the missing, I will find out tomorrow for sure.
thanks,
marty k

my car had a persistent misfire in 5.
They replaced all plugs...and it came back.

I thought it may have been an MAF based on how the power stutters when you get on the boost.

Well, porsche had concerns re: my range 1 (and 2) faults..bought the car w/25kmile.

either way, i they opened the engine, found no real smoking gun, replaced a bunch of lifters buttoned it back up...and many weeks later....it STILL missed.

At this point, a tech suggested switching the coils...solved the prob.

I hope for you that you have a good relationship w/ your svc manager and GM, if not...i suggest you go remove the exhaust and switch back to your reg program.

good luck tomorrow.

Is that an AWD dyno or RWD dyno?

Are the numbers you posted at the wheels or at the flywheel?

The question is what turbochargers did they use? They had to use K16 hybrids, or K24's

Who are you posing the question to? The 480 kit does not require upgraded hairdryers.

Kevin,
that is stock K-16 turbos,
the beauty is in the programming and maximizing (in this case stock stuff),
the cams, and the turbos and how they interrelate to the programming.
similar to the good performance you are finally getting with your stage 1's
now that Gunther and yourself spent dyno time and maximized the set-up!

woodster,
Let me know if you do any side by side runs with any other stage 2 cars. Just curious as to the outcome. I also have the 480 chip and it pulls very nicely. Hit your card hard a few times in third or higher and you might see 1.0 bar for an instant settling down to .9. I have heard that the exhaust could give you some extra umph. Congrats.
