Yes, you do need new gaskets.

I think it is very simple as you will see when the car is on a lift, maybe 30 mins. Can someone give us the procedure and torque specs for tightening the bolts? thx

Guys (Kevin/ Stephen)... how bad is it really to have the inside of the headers ceramic-coated as well?? Kevin (UMW) stated not too, but Stephen's pic's. show them coated inside. I did this modification quite some time ago. The headers were coated by Jet-Hot, inside and out, and I was never advised by them not to coat the headers on the inside due to possible damage to the turbine wheel. How concerned should I be?? I'd like to communicate with anyone who has had any problems as a result of interior coating of the headers. Please advise.

I'll post the torque spec and pattern. Make sure you buy new gaskets.

You are assured to get 100% turbine wheel failure when you coat the inside of the headers!!!!

There is no way that you can etch the inside exhaust tubing. There is no mechanical bond, the ceramic will break off and knick the blades on the turbine wheel. This damage will erode the turbine wheel and cause a imbalance condition. With the rotating assy out of balance, you will knock out your bearings.

Just for reference, those headers that I showed in the pictures were coated inside after we told the coater not to spray the inside of the headers. They were later stripped and redone, and the interior was left uncoated. I used them to show the change in size since they looked nice in pictures.

Don't know if I'm beating a dead horse here... but I just finished my "redo" . Had the headers ported and polished in one day. I went through a few carbide bits on the dremmel... but other than that it is a fairly easy modification. If anyone has been contemplating doing this work, I say go for it. It definitely can't hurt. What took the longest was getting the headers back from Jet-Hot. Just wanted to thank Ultimate Motorwerks and Imagine Auto for their input. Here's a few photo's.

Are the K16 and K24 (OEM X50) headers the same?

These usually go for about $50 on Ebay a set

There is no difference between the headers.

Unless I missed it (likely), but is there a before and after photo of the areas you are talking about grinding? I saw the very nice after photos above, but the before pics are missing. Could just be that they were hosted somewhere and expired or whatever so they are not showing up. Anyone?

Also, has anyone tried the extrude hone process for the insides? That was THE HOT ticket back when I was racing personal watercraft. Curious if that technology/process would work in this application. If you are not familiar with it you can check it out here.
