I knew that Porsche made this light weight flywheel for the GT2 Evo, with a 2 disk clutch setup. The problem was trying to get my hands on one. I suppose that I could have bought a GT3R flywheel and just copied it and moved the diameter out to 7.25" With the new throwout bearing mounted right inside of the bell housing you just trash the slave cylinder and accumulator. While I have you here, I've tried to find your old front suspension pictures. To no avail. Tyson is saying that you don't have GT3 wheel carriers, I was under the impression that you said that you swapped your upright's and carriers?

FWIW the original '98 GT2 EVO race car had the 4 disk carbon fiber clutch setup and is almost impossible to find and extremely expensive, almost none of the current GT2 race evos still have it, they had to switch to the 2 disc setup.

Thanks for sharing so much info.

Jean, the picture of the flywheel that I purchased was/is the same one you have just mentioned.. Very hard to get, and expensive.. Basically I have had Tilton make the 7 disk clutch for that same flywheel. I will be fininshed making a batch of these flywheels shortly..

Kevin,

Amazing work. From what I know only a couple of race teams in Europe are using these (from the ones who still race the GT2 Evo)
Would you be doing anything that fits my car too? I am not sure what is the exact setup Todd K. is putting there but I would love to have one of these if I can afford it.

Thanks

With the holiday season and New Year, I have had other projects that have jumped ahead of it. However, I have a nice stash of pictures that I need to post, to show the progress..

Mike, you are going to have to show us your new toy...

Can anyone point me to some all wheel dyno charts for 996TT with list of actual various modifications, and the modification specs?

thanks,
Marc

Of all the crazy built up 996TTs on the horizon Kevin's is the one I'm most interested in... He seems to be leaving no stone unturned and having seen him work his stuff in person (I was lucky enough last year on my 'ol garage floor) I can tell you, nobody does it better In fact it's because of him I got my start....

Here is my new Zero Clearanced Stage 7 turbochargers that I will be using with this engine project.. I will use and test two different versions. One based on the K16 turbine wheel (street version) and a race or open road set based on K24's.. These units are extremely efficient and have the latest compressor wheel technology. I am finishing up the welding of my hybrid stock/modified headers.. Larger primaries and larger flange diameter for the turbo..

Kevin: What makes a K16 into a stage "7". What is the upgrade path through the various stages of the K16?

Thanks, Mike

Mike, it's the continued effort to find more HP out of these engines.. New wheels come down from the manufactures for testing and actual applications. While I have basically rolled out the Stage 7's, I'm always trying to find something bigger and better.. Each Stage typically will out perform the previous.
