I wish that was it. First thing I did was put a new cap on. Even went with the shiny chrome one. Didn’t change it. Only does it when it’s a full tank. Changed the “seals” at the filler neck and still nada. From what I’ve googled, it’s the seal in the tank that can’t be changed.

Make sure the seal is on correctly, I accidentally put it on the wrong groove the first time and it smelt worse than ever. Also pull the 4 little nuts off the fuel hat lid in the frunk and see if the fuel pump housing seal is leaking right after you fill up, could be a crack on one of the lines coming out of the hat also. Easy check.

I just dropped the front and rear seats off today to have reupholstered with black/red stitching and they’re installing new porsche seat foams that have the seat heaters in them. Fingers crossed.

Oh! Forgot to mention, the car’s name. Well, I’m a big fan of Beerfest, the movie…and Gamgam, the feisty ol’ German grandma is one of my faves…so her name is Gamgam…

Ok….slight problem, need some input. Seat manufacturer sent the wrong upholstery. They sent sport seat upholstery when I have comfort seats. I’ll take care of that, but that means I will have to wait another 6-8 weeks. So now I’m thinking, maybe I just go aftermarket. The Recaro Orthoped seats look amazing. But can’t find them anywhere. That’s the type of seat I’m after though. This is NOT a race car, so I want something that will be comfy but still sporty. Recommendations?

I am following you on this trip. I also have a 2003 with 30K with a few mods. Pinned coolant lines, water pump, belt, belt pulleys, hoses, o-rings, all exhaust studs, N75 valve, one way vacuum valves, etc. Wired my Valentine One power supply in from the overhead console (night switch/sunroof area), no cord from cig lighter to windshield obstruction. I am ordering 997.2 GT2RS intercoolers from Design911 tomorrow. Read that it is a great bang for your buck. I saw your garage opener switch, what is the part number and where did you get it? Thanks in advance!

I would look for Recaro Sportster seats if looking aftermarket. If not, look for some 997 sport seats with manual forward and aft movement. They have electronic recline that only takes power and ground to work. I have these and they are GREAT! The look nice, comfortable, and do a good job of holding you in the seat. They also compliment the 996 interior.

I would've gone 997.2 IC's but the price has shot up on them, so I figured for a little more, I'd just go aftermarket. We'll see, I think anything is better than the stock 996 IC's Would love to see how you did the V1 install. I'm thinking about having it integrated into my rearview mirror since I have to send that in for repair, anyways. So I may do that, though I don't know everything needed yet to make the gen 2 work with the mirror integration. The switch part number is 996-613-119-10-A05. Check the link to the youtube video in the first part of this thread and you'll see the instructions are really easy.

So I'll be honest, I'm trying to do some modernization with the interior and part of that is making the seats have a little more technology. So the Recaro Orthoped's offer AC/Heating along with a lot of adjustments. Now, if I can't get those, I found a pair of 911.1 GT3 seats that happen to be black with red stitching (the theme i'm going with on the interior) but I don't think I can use the seat heaters that are built in on those to work. Trying to find out. I know the fore/aft will work with just a power and ground. I do know that the Sportster has heating available, so that's def a plus. I'll look into it for sure.

Ok…I like what I did. What do y’all think? The red is Alcatara and was custom.

I think if you took this part I circled back to black leather on all 4 seat bottoms it would look better. But remember it's your car!
