Default ski rack Recommendations

I am looking for Recommendations for a after market roof rack system mainly for ski racks for my 2003 996TT coupe
Anybody out there been down this road and are you happy with the system that you have?

Why aftermarket? Most pictures I've seen on the forum are of the Porsche roof transport system. Utilizing the factory mounting points on the roof is likely the best option.

Called local Porsche dealer parts department and was told that they are not available - later called pelican parts and they told me that they could order them from Germany for about $650 for the rack system + the cost of the ski attachment
After that I was looking at Google images and it seems that there might be some good aftermarket options that use the factory mounting points - If I could find a used OEM roof rack System I would jump on it

Yes, go OEM. Nice used ones come up for sale on eBay occasionally.

Default OEM

Agreed with the above posters, go OEM. Like all things Porsche it is expensive but really well engineered (made by Thule) Once you get the bare rack, lots of Thule accessories fit it, (very close to the aero bars they make). I even used some Yakima ski carriers on mine.
There is a guy on eBay that sells a “kit” based on two types of Thule feet (can’t buy them in the US) and a bar but I never saw it in person. $500. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e1105...&sojTags=bu=bu
It took me 4 times to get mine. 2 dealers cancelled online orders saying out of stock and one eBay purchase fell through when the guy could find all the parts. Mine was $425 including shipping and in excellent shape. Just keep checking eBay. Porsche part number 996-801-105-00

Another vote to find OEM rack. Well-engineered. Then use whatever attachment fits your purpose.

I use the OEM crossbars with the Thule pod. It works perfectly for both the 996TT and 997C4GTS. It is fine at speed.

VW parts fit the bars. 1/3 the price.
I’m missing the attachment blocks for mine or I’d put it on for s&g for a bit.

I have a brand new set, from 2003, that I may be talked into parting with.
