With the color test on white paper I have two possiblities.

1- That is not transmision fluid. Trans fluid would be very red. So what is leaking is something else, maybe power steering fluid or engine oil? Check power steering resevior and engine oil level.

2- That is transmision fluid but it is completely worn out/broken down/burnt and should be replaced along with the trans filter.

My hunch is that it is power steering fluid.

Ya, that pale green looks like Pentosin. Bad trans fluid I have seen is coffee brown (burnt). That comes from experience with American cars however.

Glad it might be PS fluid and not trans or oil.

If pentosin fluid, please clean it up real good. It is bad for rubber hoses and such. Also, it highly inflammable. Good luck!

The transmission mount breaks down over time causing movement of the transfer case. The transfer case thin paper gasket tears and starts leaking. Gaskets are available, not a bad job on a lift, torque higher than specs and loctite, 9 times out of ten, you will find finger tight or loose bolts. replace rubber donut on forward shaft flange, it will be hard or cracked. Good DIY on 996 forum, just have to search a little.

It's best to check it with the engine at operating temperature.

The first thread on 997 forum is what I referenced, importperformancetrans.com is who I bought gasket from, call them,if needed, as they don't have them listed on website.
