Grinding sound when controlling driver's door
Did some searching but I'm missing the magic search term. My 02 Turbo has some strange window issues going on. I will list them below:
All these issues seemed to start at the same time, I've tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of days and resetting the computer to no avail. It's strange that both windows will not auto go down all of a sudden. Both at the same time.
I'm thinking the only thing I can really do is take the door panel off the driver's side door and take a look at what's really happening inside there.
Thoughts? Experiences?
- Drivers side window does not auto drop when opening or closing the door, from the outside door handle same with the passenger door. When I close the door the window stays all the way up and never goes down.
- There is a grinding sound when putting up and down the driver's side door. Sounds like a pepper grinder, grinding glass
- When driving in the car I can hear air in the driver's side window, but the window appears to be all the way up and the door seems to be shut all the way.

IMO, failed window regulator. Common issue. Not a very expensive repair.

Ok - so i replaced the window regular and yes the grinding noise is solved. HOWEVER the window does not remain down when I release the outside door handle and have the door open. My reading indicates that this is the door latch microswitch. Which I also have found is not sold separately. Seems there are two "Door Lock Mechanisms ( both for the Left side)
Door Lock Mechanism (Left) Part #: 8N1-837-015-C-M1002
and
Door Lock Mechanism (Left) Part #: 8N1-837-015-C-OEM
First link says Genuine second Link says Porsche...
Anyway Trying to figure out what part is the right one to replace the latch switch.

there are two ( one L & one R ) but not two distinctly different latch mechanisms for EACH SIDE.
its the same part also a compatible boxter/VAG part..get the less expensive ( $288.00 ) 'un"branded one. here's the link on the same page: http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Inf...G&KeepHeader=Y

the microswitch IS replaceable, but a hassle and typically the failure of the microswitch comes from tearing/balling of the 'plastic' coating on the contact surface...so, replace the whole latch
