Saw a GT3 RS advertised in the back of, I think, Robb Report for $195,000.00

I'd presume the answer to be a tentative "yes." I say this b/c of the history of "grey market" ferrari's being imported, legalized and sold by various brokers during the ape**** era of speculation on the modena coupe and spyder. Since the GT3 is a U.S. legal model the crash testing has already been done by the manufacture, so it would seem that only a few changes to the bumpers, speedo, lamps/light and epa cert., and you could have a stateside road legal RS. However, in la la, er, ferrari land, buying a grey market 360/550 was favrable b/c the cars were discounted v. their U.S. counterparts, not sure if the same would apply with the RS. The cage could be a potential DOT sticking point, but you could just have it removed for inspection, then replaced. No biggie. Good luck. (If you attempt it).

What would be the point? Is the the RS's man advantage weight savings? If you have to make all those mods, how much weight would you save in the end vs. the price you pay? Why not just mod your GT3?

UK price for GT3RS is £87,000 ( UK Pounds ) This is with the compulsory Tracker fitted.

Porsche did not export RS to USA because they were not prepared to crash test an RS to meet your country's silly regulations. The RS has a carbon fibre bonnet and perspex rear window. The standard GT3 crash test was therefore invalid for the RS.

I guess you Yanks will just have to dream!!!

Good luck with trying to remove the cage!!

Having seen one at my local dealers I would think they put the cage in and build the car around it!!

My understanding of why the RS was not going to be imported into the US was to do with the rear wing.

The end plates protrude past the window line of the car, but not past the wheel arch, making it a potential hazard to American pedestrians.

And, just so Watt can have another pop at me, the car is 3-10mm lower than a GT3 and would not clear the speed bumps at MacDonalds....

I'll get my coat.

Watt, you're simply learning how to drive it...

How many miles? I was noticing power increase up to about 1000miles.

But you're right about learning to drive it; every time I drive it I learn something new. Also, taking the GT3 to the autox has allowed me to explore and learn the characteristics at the limit. Damn, this GT3 is incredible!

Noel,

about 600 miles, it's very evident.

the car keeps surprising me, the handling is better than the gt2 on my bumpy roads: the gt2 would hobby horse/pitch in nasty bumps and the gt3 sails right thru calm on an even keel. i think the gt2 to Mk II suspension evolution they spoke about is substantial.

Mr RS,

still not lower than a GT2 which poseurinos Americanos are enjoying right and left; and demographically you are still off: no one with GT2/3 goes to McD's; they're all up at Top of the World in Malibu smoking Cubans.

Greatest country in the world? I don't think so. What language do you speak? I think you will find it is English. I have to admit though, for a colony you have done quite well.

Your answer to my reply on the "M3 spanks GT3" thread made me think you were a bit of a Pr!ck - the answer above confirms it - why have you bothered coming to these forums if you already know it all
