That's just how it is in general.
If that 70k mile modded gt3 was yellow or black it would not have probably even reached the $90k mark plus fees. Yes there are premium colors but only for collector grade pieces. Whoever bought this car wanted it exactly as it was.

Snaveed not following through (and ghosting) sure does add an interesting twist to this money laundering offshore asset hoarding car collecting story.

Liquid assets seized or frozen, perhaps?

Mine will be going up in the near future. Really struggling with how much to do before even listing it. Contemplating having the bumpers and side skirts resprayed to clean up rock chips.

94526GT3 I'm gonna have to disagree with your blanket statement on value and color. 1st - yellow was the launch color and lots of folks would prefer it over silver. Silver wasn't a rare color so it might or might not sell for more than black, yellow, or white. It's really a matter of who is in the market that day - especially for a car that doesn't roll up for sale every day. A guy who has been waiting for the car in black jumps in with both feet and the price goes higher. Second - the idea that only collector grade cars command a higher price just denies the current realities in the market. A driver quality 964 Targa with a back end repaint following the replacement of both rear quarters from an accident just sold for $85k. In some colors that car might have gone in the $60's. It was an uncommon color but it certainly was not "collector grade". 996 GT3's may not all sell for $90k plus going forward but if you bought a $70k car that was bone stock and needed all the non mod corrections and updates that these cars get over the years (LSD, coolant pipes, clutch, coil packs, etc.) you'd be in for $90k pretty quick. If you find one for $60k - it's probably gonna need even more. There will be some cheap sales in the market to guys who get lucky but those cars never make it to the auction - at least not cheap.

Highest sale price recorded for a 996 gt3 was sold in arctic silver. Just today a gt2rs sold in another shade of boring silver for $776k…

Yes I own an arctic silver gt3 and got triggered by a random comment saying any other color is “more valuable” than silver for a 996 gt3. I also own a white 997 targa 4s and I get more compliments driving my boring normal color silver gt3.

Honestly any color on the 996 gt3 is beautiful…

“They are pretty, but imho not the most flattering color for a 996.”

Is this what ”triggered” you? If so I’m sorry. As noted, I think silver is “pretty” and was simply stating my “opinion” That’s all (and for the record I loved my former silver 996 which I owned for six years!

White car owners PM me for a 1:1 trade pls 😂

Getting my Lucid GT in black hopefully within the next few months and will instantly send it to get a full XPEL cover. I will then hide my hideous arctic silver gt3 away in my detached garage for someone to discover…

Lol same! I love my black 6-3 for about the first 10m after it gets washed. Needs a paint correction now too.

I'm not hating on the silver. My first 2 911's were silver and I was looking for a silver GT3 when I bought the 6GT3 I own. I think any of us that already have a 6 GT3 are lucky because on any given day a 996 GT3 in any color can get very expensive if there's more than one buyer looking. The high prices may have brought some sellers out of the wood work but normally there won't be many for sale and I suspect those that sell will be at prices that will make current owners glad we don't have to buy in this market - or the market of the near future.
I love silver 911's but I've allowed other colors to grow on me.

Love the yellow but are people saying it's not as desirable a color (assuming condition all equal)?

Ha, here is how I look at it. If you like it, and you want to keep it, then get what you like. If you are buying for "resale" down the road, well, as this thread shows there are lots of opinions, and there are many considerations at play. My personal OPINION is that when these cars were new people bought them more to drive, as there was no real sense that this "gt3 thing" was going to take off and that these cars would become such a cult/market hit. So the "flashy" colors were not picked as often when new. But as people started to view them more as a "collector/fun/weekend car," the "skittle colors" became more palatable. That's kind of how I see it as well. I'd never daily a bright/flashy car (my daily is silver lol). but all my fun cars are a "fun" color (scud is yellow, gt3 is red, etc....). Also, keep in mind, "rarity" seems to drive price so if you care alot about resale value go with something that is not as common (i.e., not silver, not black). Moreover, keep in mind that tastes have changed in the two decades since the 996 gt3 was being produced. There were no "Miami blues" or "viper green" offerings back then. White, black, silver, red, yellow, a couple greys, a couple (subdued) blues, and a few one-offs (like carmon red). Seems the market has shifted a little more towards the wilder side of things these days, with folks valuing the trendy "artsy" colors and paint to sample cars. So naturally those types of colors from 2004 are going to be valued by the same crew (again, imho). But that is not to say there are not folks out there who wouldn't be caught dead in a yellow/red/green gt3 (my best friend is like that). To each his own.

Oddly enough - I'm a silver car guy from the start. My very first car was a silver 240Z that turned to dust. I bought a yellow original paint 240 with no rust and planned to have it color changed to silver. The guy who was going to paint it said "but then you'll just have another repainted 240Z. No one has original paint Z cars. So I sucked it up and left it yellow - even though I wasn't a yellow car guy. First 2 911's - silver. When I went shopping for a GT3 I wanted silver. I was going to use it to promote my business. I loved the silver because you never really notice it in a crowd of cars and that fit my personality. But again a friend said "what business man buys a billboard that no one can see?" Again I end up with a yellow car. I love the silver but the yellow grows on you. And - it gets noticed - a good thing if you have your company name on the car and you don't drive like an idiot. The black Targa was a "barn find". With that kind of car you don't get to pick your color unless it needs repainting. Porsche had some pretty odd and - to me - a few awful colors over the years that weren't very popular in their day. But you find a pristine 911 that is one of 3 painted in that awful color and they trade high because there were only 3 - not because it's a great color. I'm with Scott with this addition. When you're shopping for a car produced in small numbers - like a 6GT3 - you might be faced with this option: buy a GT3 in my least favorite color or have NO 6GT3 at all. Given that option - I'd say any color 6GT3 is better than no GT3 and that factor will probably drive up price in the future.
