GT3 market is crazy right now. Never thought I’d see 996 GT3’s be so high so soon, figured it would eventually get there. Seller’s market for sure.

Will be interesting. White is cool! I’d miss full leather though! Really spruces up the 996 interior.

I’m curious if these values hold and these prices are now the new norm, as this is a niche car with a much smaller potential buyer’s pool vs other cars today selling for stupid money.

I think these are fantastic cars, and I’m wondering if I should scratch the itch and go for one. First 996 GT3 I ever saw was a black one back in mid 2000’s, speeding down 101 South in Scottsdale area. Never forgot about that car lol

I don't have a crystal ball. If someone does, please chime in. This is just my opinion, but I doubt you will see a noticeable decline in prices. You may see them flatten out or fall slightly, but I don't see a big drop. Yes there is a smaller buyers pool, but there are so few of these things around. Not to mention reasonably clean ones. Just an insane amount of cash out there right now and its hard to put that cat in the bag. The 996 gt3 represents, to some, the end of an era of ultra raw street cars. So if you can afford it now, I say go for it.

I would agree with this. The market for them may be small, but I think there were ~1,000 imported to the US. How many are still capable of being on the road is anyone’s guess but I’d imagine at least a handful met their demise at a track or random accident. Also seems a few have gone oversees lately. It’s a niche car that is getting a larger following as time goes on. If you want one buy it. If one doesn’t make you smile while driving it you won’t have a problem selling. I have regrets on many cars I didn’t purchase when I thought they were overvalued and there was a bubble.

GT3s are a luxury good, older ones more so. They may flatten but for the most part when niche vehicles hit a higher price point they rarely fall back to “normal”. Look in this thread to see what’s happened not just in the last two years but the last six or so for evidence of them increasing in selling price. Their age means kids can purchase their dream car from childhood (wish I still had that poster!).

I'm not sure why Current Purchase Prices, and Future Values is a thing here. Have you driven a 996 GT3? Do you want a Bewitching Porsche to drive or an investment? My feeling remains the same, driving it is like being in the middle of a three ring circus. A well sorted 6GT3 is Faster than over 90% of all of the new Porsches available, and in fact all 2022 sports cars yet still, a raw, natural and full on Driver's car. There is nothing else like it. What? A GT4 (must be replaced by a GT4RS) or a new GT3 (must be replaced by a GT3RS) are truly great Porsches. These cars will not make you a great driver but a 6GT3 will or, well I won't say it here but you can guess. Another thing and this is my perpetual experience, I Never drive my 6GT3 anywhere without getting thumbs up and slow nodding of heads in recognition of the sight and sounds the car projects. I really like the new Spyder, a lot. So what? I'd be another new Spyder owner which is good, but less than as good.

I bet that was my old black 996 gt3. It was sold new at Porsche North Scottsdale, and jumped around a bit in the Valley until I finally sold it, then bought it back, sold it to another local, who then let it go out of state. Dang fine car. Let me know if you want to drive mine. Engine is a little tired compared to my last one but you'll get the idea!

16k mile no reserve gt2 auction on BAT (salvage title). https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-porsche-gt2-14/

Might be a fun driver/refreshstoration project for someone. Unfortunately, however, it looks like the repairs were done by a "friend at his shop" so it may be a bit of a risk if this thing needs frame work/straightening. Also, judging from the cobwebs hanging off the car everywhere and the listing info indicating only 200 miles added since 2013, this sucker could need some mechanical tlc for sure (in addition to the obvious cosmetic tlc needs). Why am I tempted by these basket cases LOL?

@ScottArizona do it! The nice thing about a car like that is once you go through it you know what you have. Cars with low miles scare me sometimes with the hidden costs. Perfect gt2 to freshen up and drive without a worry.

I totally agree. Friends always ask me: "would you buy this (storied) car?" and My answer is ALWAYS the same (if I like the car): "Of course, at the right price!" If you get it at the right price who cares about the hidden costs. You win either way because either you baked them in to your price or you make out like a bandit if they don't materialize. I suspect this car has some demons, but after some freshening up it would be fine. Its a low mileage mezger after all! But I also suspect someone is going to overpay for this thing, and unfortunately it doesn't matter how much you fix or diy, it will always be a salvage title so the price better be right. Also, to be honest I'd be way more interested if it was any color other than silver. I had a silver 996tt for 5 years and if I have a gt2 I would prefer a "fun" color (white/grey/blue/red/yellow).

Also interested in this. The mice chewing wiring worries me more than anything else. Tracking electric issues is just not fun. Door panels and such are whatever.

Anyways...I'd be treating this as it was designed to be *666* lol
