Question Optimoly Ta (Aluminum paste)

The owners manual specifies that a thin coating of this stuff be applied to the wheel lug bolts. What is it? Anti-seize compound?

Where can you get it?
Are there alternatives like white lithium grease?

Thanks in advance for your help....

Yes, it is to prevent stick. It is a Castrol product but I am not sure who carries it. I am sure you can use any anti-seize compound, though.

You definitely don't want to use grease. I get a copper anti-seize compound at the local NAPA store. I use it on caliper bolts.

Thanks guys...Can't even find that Castrol stuff anywhere after conducting an exhaustive google search. I guess I will pick up some Permatex Anti-Sieze... It has a blend of aluminum, copper and graphite in it. Man, I am just splitting hairs here trying to do everything just exactly perfect!!! Must be that Porschephile disease setting in... :-O

I use the permatex brand which you can find at any auto parts place. I also see the mechanics at my local dealer use the same stuff. You only need a little so buy it in the small tube. Jeff

My understanding is that Anti-Seize is not simply there to help remove bolts, but to aid in obtaining correct torque.
