The 4th GT3
#16
I knew of this car before Thusly sold it. It has an extensive list of items that Premier completed. Thusly probably still has a list of what was done. I am surpised that Thusly did not pick it back up. He has been looking for another GT3 to make some of us GT3 guys have to work even more to keep him in sight.
Many thanks guys.

U may want to add a real rs bumper up front. That's not original with the squared rs vents vs tapered if u want true spec. U may also want to make sure the central radiator is tilted. It's probably 95% there. What about the half rollcage? Is that spec for gt3 rs or a painted techquip bar. Mike

The RS has cage just like this one :

It is bolted together, you can unbolt front part and use it as roll bar only.

Congrats. Love the 6rs- if they had been sold here in the US - I be a long term ie forever owner of the best iteration of the gt3 series. Have a question- what are the exact differences between vanilla 6 and rs. I know front bumper is different with the rs vents and central radiator is tilted to make full use of rs vents/ lwf-rs pulley/ suspension pieces- what are the pieces?/ did not know the gearing is different as well as exhaust- is that different from regular 6? What else. God I would like one. Mike
Not that it matters a bit but you are wrong.
So about the differences.
The 7.8 Motronic control unit is programmed with the GT3 RS EU4 option.
The RS engine has a different part number than the GT3 mk2 one. *type M79/80.
According to Porsche the geometry of the inlet ports in the cylinder head have been optimized.
Only in Carrara white color with blue or red decals, based on the the body of the 996GT3 mk2 clubsport.
The wheel center were painted red or blue respectively.
The rear lid features a RAM air scoop that improves engine breathing in higher speeds. (and might increase the HP)
The spark plugs are different
The exhaust tips have a different polished look
A single mass lightweight flywheel is installed
Wheel carriers are different, lighter with different mounting points and lowered tie rod arms
Different shocks
Diferent front springs *45 vs 40 N/mm
The front hood is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic
The rear window is made from polycarbonate
No A/C as std, just the four-speed blower
The mirrors are finished in carbon look.
The front bumper has openings at the top. *However, the radiator is not tilted.
The steering wheel is in Alcantara with red or blue stitches.Same for the handbreak and gear ****.
The 3P belts are blue or red, the 6p belts are red, the car has the GT3 clubsport fire extinguisher.
No cupholders and no glove box according to the tech info. (I’ve seen an RS with them)
Full roll cage with an extra beam painted in white (some early cars were delivered with a black one.) The rear section features side door tabs but they are missing from the front.
That’s about it.
To the OP poster - congrats for the new purchase! It’s beautiful!

If you want a bit more details, fire up your favorite PET program and search for Model M004 which is how the 996 GT3RS parts were differentiated from 'normal' GT3.
Great car BTW! That will be a lot of fun...

There are a couple of DIY's - start here: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-...r-slots-3.html
I just went through this, and it is not difficult but time consuming...

I made my own.
The spacers and bolts are the easiest part. There is also a need to replace/alter the existing ductwork to fit. You also need to either flip the radiator (in theory) or extend the hoses - which is what I did. Then modifying the front bumper to take advantage of this.
If/when I take the front bumper apart, I will take pictures and post them.
Sorry to take away from discussing a stunning car...
I would be glad to address question via PM or other forums...

The only known (at the time) street legal 2004 GT3RS. It is white and red/red wheels.
I've got some good photos of it including the "Options" decal, Carbon Fiber Hood, Rear Spoiler, Roll Cage and Seats.
Heavy bastard.
Made any Ton pickup feel like a Cadillac by comparison. Stiff isn't a fair description.

Thanks for all the info. I wanted to clarify an earlier statement I made regarding the gearing in the car. It *felt* different than other GT3s but I can see that RS models had the same tranny as other 3's. Whether the ratios in my car were changed or not remains a question. Perhaps they seemed different because of the faster action of the short shift mechanism and the LWFW. Again, thanks to all for their input.
I've posted them before but you guys don't search so..
