New Project: Engine drop to do coolant fittings...
#46
Ray, I will not do any upgrades at this time... Just fixing fitting... It certainly easy to do at a future time as it looks like the trans can be removed without undoing the engine. That is how I got my RMS done at a shop...

Got to the core! Found one fitting had walked out but not leaking... Now to clean things up, undo the epoxy bonds to get ready for welding and take inventory of o-rings and hoses needed to put his puppy back together...

Wow. You were close to being forced into the repair anyhow. And on the oil cooler housing no less which I'm never sure I've seen documented proof of those fittings failing. Shows any of them can and will go
Congrats. The hard part is done it's all downhill from here.

Separated the trans yesterday... Chasing my mysterious chirping from that area...
Found some grease oozing from the TO bearing, seems to be assembled correctly (I thought the washer might have been installed incorrectly). Clutch seems fine as does the pressure plate. I checked the pilot bearing, minor seepage. The end of the input shaft has some minor rubbing marks from inside the pilot bearing. Do not know if normal. Will lube it up once I put back together. Took the clutch fork bearings out and cleaning and repacking.
Ran all removed parts under the parts washer. Inventoried all hoses and o-rings needed. Broke all the fitting seals with a blow torch. Except for the one in the oil cooler manifold, all others were pretty tight. Need to clean them under a wire wheel and take them to welder.
Some pictures follow...

Progress report... Parts were dropped off at welders on Friday. Hope to have them back 1st week of December. All new coolant hoses from the transmission towards the back of the car should be here Saturday. Getting all necessary o-rings and a couple of other minor things also. Cleaned up block and trans over the weekend. A clean engine is a happy engine
It was nice to see no leaks of any kind after removing the flywheel, picture shows the actual way it was. Decided to replace pilot bearing (fits in flywheel/PP assembly) as I'm still chasing this chirping.
Should hopefully begin reassembly next week... Getting there!!

Progress! Slowly beginning to look like an engine again! Decided to get a TO bearing as a friend said it sounded a little dry... Supposedly, it was changed less that 2K miles ago when I did the RMS... But if the customer never takes the trans out like I did, how would he know... It will probably be here during the week... So it will not go back in the car until next weekend... Got all hoses and O-rings changed from trans back... Just a few mores left to do...
