Default GT2 OEM strut revalve / spring rates

Hi guys,

Tons of info on doing the GT3 revalve and re-spring -- but looking for some info on GT2 specific spring rates w/ OEM coilovers (re-valved or not).

Proper spring rates? (swifts?)
Re-valving necessary at what level of spring rate increase?

Best,
Henry

I plan on doing the same on my GT2 over this winter storage period. Not sure exactly what rates I will be running be think around 500/700 or 600/800 ft/rr. IE. identical to GT3 rates, help keep a little squat in the rear to help put the power down. Not going overly stiff or low ride-height as to maintain some streetability and travel on bumpy roadcourses/backroads.
Perhaps slightly stronger damper rates in rear to contain the added weight residing back there.
Cheers,

Same plan here...

I'm worried we don't want to target GT3 specs since there's a bit of weight difference between the two (as you know).

I wouldn't worry about the weight too much in regards to spring rates, but definitely applies to the damper valving. IIRC, pre-2004 GT2's have softer springs/'weaker' valving than the GT3's. The choice of spring rate will also depend on how you want/will use the car and how you want it to behave.

Makes sense... the part I worry about is if I order 500/700 and get revalved for those, then really want 600/800.. do I need them revalved again? What's the threshold for this revalving specs.

Car is probably 80% HPDE track miles at this point.

Depends how quick you are/how good your feel is, an average driver using a valving setup of 500/700 will likely not notice a 600/800 setup on same dampers...
know too many guys obsessed with setup, personally want the car reasonably soft(maybe 500/700) to deal with any 'terrain' the car will see, better to spend time driving the car at the 'limit' than to be obsessing about exact setup, pro-racing results excluded...
damper/spring rates should also be selected(in addition to use/surface conditions) based on the tires one is planning on using.
I personally think the GT2's should be set at near GT3 spring rate setups, although the mid-corner speeds might be slightly slower, the out-of-corner acceleration traction provided by some squat(less spring rate) might help boost/reduce lap times...
