Definitely a road registered car - with moderate club level track use - just what a GT3 excels at doing!
I've owned my 2004 GT3 for 5 years & did just that with it...until the big track bingle = wrecked GT3 body.

1 - can we swap in my 2004 GT3 instrument panel/pod in the '98 C2?
You will face a complete switch of wiring looms. Good thing is that you have a complete donor car, so the best way to do it is to strip both chassises (=is that English...?) and swap wiring loom and major parts from your GT3 to that '98 hull. Your GT3 has CANBus wiring, so Motronic, instrument panel, HVAC and ABS unit communicate through it. Basically adding just few wires from Motronic to those other units would be sufficient -in theory, but HVAC and instrument panel have completely different plugs and pin order, so there's about a week's worth of work of switching plugs and pins...did that...

Front bulkheads are different in C2 vs GT3. C4 should have the same layout so then there's space for GT3's tank. You have RHD, so IIRC you don't have the option for 89l tank at all.

ie leave the e-throttle gear in my GT3 (dont swap over?) - run the existing C2 Mk I cable throttle, but add on a separate Motronic?

cheers
See the answer #1. Either completely analog (= mkI cable throttle ) or complety digital (= mkII E-gas ). If I were you I'd go digital.

I do not doubt Colin's expertice in this matter at all, but I managed to squeeze the turbo's engine to '00 C2's chassis without any mods to rear bulkhead. Maybe there's differences in different MY's? It may be possible, because my car had stamped places for IC piping, I just opened them. Also IC's bracket's attachment points were there.
Colin's pics from mods to engine's rear mountings are very nice, I did mine slightly differently....old ones were cut out and a suitable brackets out of 5mm plate were welded in...

Fabulous advice again Pete - thanks mate

Electrical starting to get over my head - so am going thru with sparkie next week

RE: I managed to squeeze the turbo's engine to '00 C2's chassis without any mods to rear bulkhead.
- I think the issue here is that the GT3 has a large, external oil tank (dry sump) that makes the engine very high
HEIGHT - 600 - BOTTOM OF HEADER TO TOP OF OIL TANK
not sure re the turbo engine??
cheers

IMO they share the tank. I must check if sound deadening paddings have compression marks on them...i'll return from the summer cottage back home on hursday, so I'll take a look with a borescope.

JB,

I looked into the same thing in 2005 when my C2 engine blew. Following is required mods from memory (may not be everything):

New ECU
New wiring harness
new instrument cluster (don't remember why)
fuel system upgrade (don't remember exactly what was needed)
chassis mods so oil tank has room in engine compartment
donor GT3 engine
donor GT3 transmission
cooling system modifications
wiring harness for trans cooler
new rear cross member welded in for engine mounts
new half shafts
New MAF housing
New air box
New exhaust
New AC lines
New rear suspension (don't remember why)

The cost for conversion was very expensive so I decided to buy a factory reman for the C2. I did eventually end up with a GT3 while shopping for a turbo top replace the C2.

thanks StephenB
- thats quite a shopping list!

I've got a complete 2004 GT3 CS - less a badly smashed up body
so all GT3 items on hand - which is most of your list

big issues are bodywork mods to C2 - plus Electricals swap.....quite happy to use a motec etc
.....that's so far!
cheers
