I use this from Works Bell - it is a quality item and allows you to have a horn button. It can also be removed one-handed with a bit of practice. Absolutely zero slop after more than a year.

What's the reason why people use quick release on the steering wheel? Because the seat is not on a slider, so it is easier to get in and out of the car with the steering wheel off? Or the racing steering wheels usually do not have enough depth so you need to extend it toward the driver (instead of using an extender)?

Usually hard to get in and out when you have a cage.

not really needed in a GT3 without a cage IMO. I had one in my Exige with full cage - never used it. Steering wheel was actually helpful for leveraging out of the car!

I am just thinking whether it is something I'd need if my seat is on a slider.. I can understand if the seat is bolted to a fixed position.

Debating if I should get a racing wheel or not, given that I still drive the car to and back from the track. (But nothing much else..)

I have the "euro" buckets on a sliding rail - im 6 ft - and dont think it's required. I do however feel at times that the euro seat leans back slightly too far and having the wheel closer would feel better but that's very personal and depends on arm length and leg length etc. Could probably fix that by using some spacers under the rear mounting points to lean it forward a bit.

There is always that thought in the back of the mind of deleting a safety feature like the airbag. One of those things that you might not need 99.9% of the time but the 0.1% matters I guess. I do agree that quick release is cool however, and the cup wheel for example is probably much nicer for track use. I'm going to just re-trim my stock wheel in Alcantara and add some padding for more thickness.

It's a good upgrade; improves steering feel due to reduced weight. Airbag is an issue however.

Obviously, not an issue while at the track when you are harnessed in with HANS.. But it is the time when you are driving without the helmet.. (no helmet = no HANS)

Air bag delete does not worry me. Maybe I'm foolish, but I have always gone with aftermarket Momo wheels on my cars, and it never bothered me. I guess the fact that I drove early long hoods for so long.....that there was a period in automotive history where no nannies existed, and that was OK then, so why not now? I know progress brings greater safety and thats positive, but living life sometimes means taking chances for the sake of something beyond......
