^^^Love the graphics on that car!

To Mooty's point, a well sorted well built car may be worth the price of admission over a 6gt3 with some parts slapped on. Not talking about any car in particular, but food for thought which you may already know.

Spec911, sounds like spec miata where cars can range from $10k garage builds to $50k+, haha.

I'll have more details posted later tonight, typing that much on my cell phone would take forever. I uploaded a few more pictures that were on the phone to my album.

Oh, come on Omar. I'm finally ready to run a full season and you decide to quit!

LOL, not quiting just looking for a new challange, GTS4 should be stacked next year too, Josh and Max are both building E92's, Eric may run 4, Knopp in his E36 plus the usual compliment of Porsche guys.

all this mod talk is just stupid.
u are all lying to urselves.
buy a fkg car, any car, then throw 30k if u r poor or 60k if u not so poor, then u MIGHT come out with a race car. there is no need to argue, I've done this many times and the above numbers are pretty accurate when u do things cheaply.

we are all throwing money away.
pick whichever way that u are happiest.

if u are considering reselling anything, before u even start, forget it. won't work.
the minute u buy a $x car, imagine u just lost $2x that amount. then a yr or two later, if u didn't lose that much, u be pretty happy. but if u do ur accounting correctly, u probably lost 2.5-3x the purchase price.

I disagree. I've actually made out OK on many of my track day and race car builds. And I have built some nice "home built" projects that have been successfully campaigned by others. Mooty It all depends on your talent at building cars and what you're willing to live with stroking checks for.

u r not doing your math right. if YOU build it, you need to count hour and your labor. if you dont, then pls, i will fly you over to SF first class and you can build my next race car for free labor. no matter who builds it, labor is labor, it has costs. time you could have done other things to make money, to play with ur kids, to take wife out, to surf rennlist.

not doubting your ability to build, but just saying that most ppl dont account the $ correctly.
at least in CA, most shops, even bad one charge roughly $100/hour. and they are in no hurry..... add up the labor. that's where the money goes.
if you are working on ur car. you need to charge yourself 100/hour as well. if you did that, your car is suddenly 2x the cost you think it is.

just like i talked to many ppl about cost of track day. 99% of them failed accounting.
they talk about fuel, wear/tear, food, hotel....
you took a day off work, what's your pay rate for a single day? that's lost... yes, i know it's your vacation day, but still, it's one day's pay lost.
you lost one day of "hall pass" with wife, i would pay easily $5000 per one hall pass.
the one day you burn on track, you go home, you realized you missed a day with your kids. that's a lot of "emotion" lost, trying to equate that to $ lost
then you listen to wife nag about why you had to go to track drive cars in circles buring $5/gal gasoline and not spending enough time with her, clean the house, help kids with homework. i'll pay a couple grands if someone can make that disappear.

all that are part of the total expense. if you dont count it today, it will add up and you will end up with a very BIG invoice ten years later. just watch!

Mooty, I use the shop time, creative time as therapy away from a very stressful business that I own and run in support of national security. It's either do things in the shop or PAY someone to listen to me on a therapists couch.

I won't argue the hours spent, but to me, I'd not change a thing. I agree with you that this sport is expensive, no matter the marque. But there are sensible ways to go about it without lighting fire to money.

Mike
