Default 997 Clubsport cage in 996 ?

Does anybody know if this 997 GT3 Clubsport cage fits in my 996 GT3 ?
Could get it for a good price but seller is not sure it fits. It's the complete (front and back) set that needs to fit.

Thanks in advance

Hi Ivo hope your good.
All 996 and 997 cages will fit either model.
The second picture you posted is a 996 Rs cage though.
Is that the one your buying?

This is Cargraphic's Heigo cage, based (or better say copied from_) on the 997.1 GT3 cage.
It includes 1 side bar or two if you order it with, a slightly different front a-pillar design, it has no FIA approval but caries a material TuV certificate (diameter is 38mm), it comes unpainted with an option to powercoat and its initial price is considerably lower than the factory's one.
According to Cargraphic, it fits all 996 /997 cars with standard bucket seats.

Ivo, if your going to track your car again this year I would defo get a full oem clubsport/Rs cage for safety and piece of mind.
Off topic slightly but has anyone seen door bars for the 996 Rs cage?
Mine has brackets but I've never seen a 996 Rs with them in and my opc couldn't find any.
Cheers

He Neil, Do you mean i should, in your opinion, upgrade to full cage instead of my Tequipment rollbar regardless,
or do you mean that i should not get the one from above (Heigo) but go for the OEM version ? (and if so please explain)

I could live without the full cage (nice matter of speech) but can get the one above, which is new, for less then half the retail price so would consider that as a serious option.

I wouldn't call it (Heigo cage) copied. On several spy shots of factory test mules there's big Heigo stickers on A-pillars.

Also it's possible to get Heigo cages with DMSB certification (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund e. V).

Heigo is okay (stay away from the aluminium cages though), Porsche used them in the past and indeed they do make their cages with a FIA approved diameter tubing and materials and they do offer a DMSB(formerly known as ONS) certificate.

But this specific cage has neither of them.
It is made only for Cargraphic and has an internal Heigo type number 516.105. It is 38mm in diameter and 2.5mm in thickness. It weighs 38Kg and it is literally copied from Porsche's IVM/Semcon 997 GT3 generation one cage, the only difference is in the front section and side bar(s).

Imagine that its front and rear sections are interchangeable with the factory's cage..

Just don't ask me how I know.

Hi Ivo,I definately think a full cage is the way to go instead of the alloy tequipment roll bar, which really is just a show piece and not really any protection as a roll over bar or harness bar.
The heigo cage looks good and is a good price and if it's tuv approved that means it's up to the job for sure, but I've not seen one or installed one myself but have installed several oem Porsche clubsport/Rs cages so I know the quality and fit is spot on, so I would always go that route.

So was it never available for the 996?
I've seen loads of 997's with the door bars installed but never a 996.
I have the 996 rs cage and the rear main hoop has the mounts but the front section doesn't for some reason.
I wouldn't mind getting some though if they are available

Never.. like you said the front bars had no tabs.

You are lucky to have a workshop, buy a pair of FIA removable side bars and mounts from OMP (UK based ebay store) weld them and paint them. Cheap and efficient.

I still have mine around here somewhere..

Good option John I'm going to look into doing that.
I was going to get a 997 front cage section and fit the door bars until I seen how much they are.
