Default As I have been fearing

Damn,
It happened to me yesterday on a Thunderhill track day. Felt a couple of slip and slide moments and then timely Meatball flag. Fortunately didn't overheat at all or completely dump. Haven't torn it down yet but might be lucky that it seems to be hose/fitting on lower left back side of motor I can reach.

Thank god I just changed over to Watter Wetter prior to this track day. I think a few behind me are thankful as well.

Now the decision of fixing just the culprit or dropping motor and welding all along w/ all new hoses to put the problem to bed.

Same thing happened to me last year!!! My press fitting popped off on rt side. Like yourself lucky to have run waterwetter as well. You should replace the hoses and weld or tap a pin. Mike

Yes, A little slip and slide is better than a quick big one, or collecting others for sure.

Question, I know there is probably info. on this but are ALL hoses changeable without dropping motor? I know welding or full fitting repair requires dropping motor.

Thanks and I'll search for part numbers I remember seeing posted.

No way. You will never get to those little hoses that go to the oil cooler manifold:

But I can't imagine when you would ever need to... It's more likely that a coolant fitting would fail before they do.

The only critical hoses to replace are the two main ones that clip into the aluminum hard lines on the chassis.

matt, i asked an independent - he said he hadn't seen any lately on the newer models, but had seen a few years ago, mainly on cars that had previously overheated. they welded a few in a spate of anxiety back then, but that was it. nothing since.

Default Here's The latest

Engine out, and culprit fitting just sitting there when the motor was dropped. Now time to do it all.

It's surprising in a scary sort of way how easily some of them will twist out of the casting.

Weld those things up and get back on the track!

Eric S, you may be able to help me. The fitting that popped off on your car could have been accessed and pinned without removing the engine. I am trying to gain access to the last two fittings that are located under the Finned Oil Heat Sink shown in your picture. Your fitting that popped out is located on a cooling manifold. If you follow that cooling manifold all the way to the right side can you or your mechanic tell me how to remove the bolts. One of them is covered by a bracket or black steel cooling pipe directly behind the power steering pump/reservoir in your picture. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help.

Steve, we did tapping job (Sharkwerks style) last weekend by dropping engine. You could try to access that line by removing ac compressor (u dont have to evacuate fluid) and power steering reservoir. That's the way we did it with engine out of car

My point of view. Either you do it right, or don't waste your time and energy.

I Guess it depends on how you value your time. Talking to those who have done a few of these it's more time and hassle to not drop the motor and get at it all easily.
