On r6 camber -3 front -2.8 rear/ toe in rear negative toe out caster ~ 8. Hot pressures 34-36 hot 315 rear 245 front stock rim/offset. I trailer r6's never driven to/fro track still only 16 hc's and grip afterwards is like 3/4 bald street tires : (. On a 2 minute lap yeah it's bout .5 secs faster 1st 8 hc's next 4hc's Mpsc remaining 4 hc's - street tires. Kuhmos- first 36 hc's grip never tapered off. My best lap was on hc #38 at thill bypass prior to strip 1:58:03 1:57:52 r6 at #6hc at #17 hc 2:04:xx. I'm heading up to thill this weekend for ncrc race and open track on fresh r6's- hopefully with less weight equates to better laptimes . Will report results after the weekend but kinda rusty. We'll see. Mike

^^hey mike how'd it go?

Fwiw it seems the Khumo slicks are dying fast ie times falling off fast after 3rd race ie 6th hc. Backs also losing rubber in a wierd way - will get photos but returning set and looking for some compensation. My dunlops are 2x the price but at this rate last 2x the hc's and more reliable, less work so close to no brainer. If you need a sticky for one race ie championship decider etc... it might make sense once or twice but not an optimal cash/perf solution- also my lap 3 is fastest lap in last 4 outings so they heat up quick and then begin to slip.

Won in my class(ncrc gt1 on sat) but man am I rusty and car was having braking issues ie rebled so firm pedal but slight delay in bite(not the usual stop on a dime feel)- only thing I can think of is though I have lotta pad life(50%) they are 2 year old pads. Also swaybars was set for abit of understeer(I think Mooty told Tony of TC Design I spin alot)- me no likey esp with a guard 80/80 LSD. With soft brakes and too much understeer and rusty me I'm off 2 seconds from best laptimes prestrip. Since my 1st track weekend of the year next weekend event need to change pads/ rebleed / adjust swaybars for slight oversteer and lower front height. Looking forward to next event. Mike

Bringing this back up. Any last minute words of advise before I order tires today?

If I can get 35+ heat cycles out of Kuhmo's I can justify running them. If they get 16 and then are junk as some have suggested that's just too much $$$ on tires for me to justify for what I'm dong. Those who got fewer heat cycles all seem to be in hot climates with abrasive tracks we have neither here in the Midwest. Just fishing for any other feedback on how long the Kuhmo's are going to last.

Otherwise I'll just order Nitto's which I know will keep going on and on.

there were several recent reports of V710 tires coming apart on a track. you may want to check it out before committing to them. imho it is either R6 or NT01, V710 is not a best idea.

I'll be running a set of kuhmo's this coming Mon/Tues at New Jersey, then on to WGI Fri/Sat/Sun. Picked this set up last fall, but didn't get a chance to run them. Only concern is they are six months old. Spent the winter in a heated space, so we'll see. Will report. The last set of hoosiers rotated all over the rims despite using aquanet.

Cheers! J

I'm in the same boat you guys are in - looking at Nittos, Kumho and Hoosiers. I have run SportsCups exclusivley, and want to try something new... Based on the reported quality issues with the Kumhos, it is down to Nittos and Hoosiers. I am leaning Nittos for now..

I know I can buy the Kumhos or Hoosiers from Tire Rack, but where do I source the Nittos? Online, I found an e-tailer called "http://discounttires.com/". Anyone heard of them? Are they reputable?

Thx,
-B

I used discount tired a lot for nittos. However it seems that the kuhmo issues are mostly in the 7 gt3. cars. Several people here On 6-3 forum have run many sets. I just finished my third set and love them. I have a set of Hoosiers next and kuhmos on another set. Should be fun. I say go for one set of kuhmos and see.they are signifantly faster than nittos IMHO

See, I would disagree with you on that. The NT01 and RA1 are pretty much the same compound. Most of the people in my group are now running NT fronts and RA rears since the fronts are so hard to get.

Having driven on Kum and RA1, I would give the nod to the RA1 all day long. I have friends that are doing 219 220 at sebring on RA1's.

I'm jealous that you guys can run the NT01 with no issues. That would be my tire of choice for sure for a DE. I run hoosiers now but it's very pricey. Disliked the kumho's. Beauty of NT or RA, is that you can run 3 sets of rears to each set of fronts. Super fast and very economical. Versus Kum or Hoosier where you basically trash the set after a couple weekends.

Dog. My coach ran 3 sec faster in hotter weather with kuhmos. Kuhmos may not last as long but better grip. But you right if I get only 16 hs'c with both kuhmos and Hoosiers then I'll run Hoosiers. I may try another set of nittos just to see as its been nearly a yr since I've run them.

Do You guys drive v710 type tires on street? Don't they puncture easily?

He was 3 seconds faster on Kum vs NT in hotter weather? Were there any setup changes in between? That's a pretty big gap. Most people are of the opinion that RA's only give up 1 to maybe 2 seconds to a hoosier.

Never! A) You'll heat cycle them out B) You have no wet weather performance C) Yes, they are more prone to punctures.
