Default 60K Service Question

I am due for my 60K service (mostly joyful street miles).

Dealer asked if I wanted to have the plugs changed at an additional cost of almost $500.

That seems a little steep and I am not even sure if it is needed, yet.

Thoughts?

thats an incredibly steep price for spark plug change. i did it myself in about 2hrs. the reason it took so long was because i removed the mufflers to gain more clearance. i believe there's a DIY somewhere out there. you might try google "996 spark plug change" or something like that. sorry, its been a while so i dont have the links, etc... but i can tell you this.... its a very straight forward DIY job.

I would do it myself. I did. Save yourself 400 plus dollars and do it. It will take you a while but is not overly difficult.

Thanks! Kind of what I expected.

Actually, it may be worth doing the wires (myself), but when should I plan on that?

Anyone know how long the wires should last?

If you're already in there, do coil packs and tubes, IMO

I made a DIY for this on EA. Google "gt3 spark plugs joey" and it should be the first hit.

It is very do-able by yourself. Keep that $500 in your pocket!
