Default Do you know of any low mileage 996 GT3 for sale ?

I sold my 997.2 C4S with PDK, very balanced car, but too refined

My first intention is to buy 997.2 GT3 RS, but besides huge price difference against 996 GT3, I was told by 2 Porsche gurus that the 996 GT3 is one of the best and most fun Porsches to drive

So, I am also looking now for a garage queen 996 GT3 (5K miles or less) and came up with:

He said he sold it already for a bit more than $ 70K, but car still is advertised:
http://sloancars.com/304/2004-996-gt...ow-3511-miles/

This car is priced right, probably would accept counter offer, but I don't like the color combination:
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

And this one is also with low miles, but I don't like the configuration of the car, too much $ on carbon fiber goodies and PCCB:

Please guide me to any other low mileage 996 GT3 if you know of one, ok ?

Thanks a lot in advance !

If street only a 997.1 GT3 will be more comfortable.

The track is where the 6 GT3 shines.

Nice choice. And let me be the 3rd guru to say - it is indeed one of the best.

I have a friend with a 15,XXX mile 996 GT3 for sale. It is set up for the track, but he has most of what you need to convert it back to stock. I think the only thing he's lacking is the stock shocks. Currently the car has Moton Club Sports.

It's white with black interior and very nice. PM me for more details and photos.

All the GT models are terrific. I've owned 996 GT3 and 997 RS and RS.2. 996 is a really good, raw car, but I like the 997 much better for street/track combo. It is a more capable car and the handling is much better. And, your only 15-20k away from a great GT37...too close in numbers not to pull the trigger on better technology. Just my opinion.

I love my 6 but not as a street car. I do concur 997 handles better the 6 needs some coaxing which maybe is part of the fun : ). Mike

For the street - yes, for track - not sure how one would call it that. I've never seen a 997GT3 driven as fast a 996 car.

^ i am slightly faster in .1gt3 than 6gt3, but i like the 6 a lot more.
the 7.2 on the other hand has both beat.
the 4.0 will be the cake.

Mooty - agreed on a 997.2 car, but it has more power and well improved. Plus, literally almost twice as much. 997.1 cars - I don't know. Either everybody babies them or they are not as fast around here.

I concur on both fronts there. Not knocking the later cars - I just have to believe that its a different sort of driver in the 7's. The slower sort I guess.

Could you clarify your criteria? (This is in reference to a 997 GT3 versus a 996)

I kept my 996 and spent extensive time in the 997.1. It really depends on what the OP is looking for... Let me summarize IMHO:

6.2GT3 PROS - Visceral ride, wanders like one of those bulls in Pamplona, Spain until the alignment is tamed (and so REWARDING when it is!), NO TC or PASM; Better track car than 7.1; CONS - ugly 996 body, cheap 996 interior, heavier stock than it needs to be, only 380hp.

7.1GT3 PROS - Gorgeous 997 body, nicer interior, 415hp, better street car; CONS - TC, PASM (both are felt on the track), softer suspension, less raw than 6.2GT3.

And his is why you see so many track guys "stripping" the 6.2s of weight and/or boring out the engines for more hp. IMHO, the 6 is the more lethal track weapon and the 7 is the better looking and better combi (track/street) car.

It really comes down to what you want...

And as Mooty pointed out the 997.2 RS 4.0 is the king of the mountain...

My $0.02,
-Blake

Thanks for all the replies, comments, etc.

I use my Porsche only twice a month. We gather with some guys on Sunday morning, go for a spirited drive and have breakfast together. We talk a bit and drive back home, also in a spirited way !

3-4 track days a year, not more

I am tired of changing cars every 2 years... So, your vote goes for a pristine 996 GT3 or a 997.2 GT3 RS ?
