After 9000 odd posts I just figured out how to multi-quote. Nice.

I am told it has been refreshed by the previous owner who drove 2 events with it. I also know the owner before that.

Not sure. But it's going to be fun checking out how much safer it will be. I heard from another who did the gearing safety upgrade in a 993 that it made a huge safety improvement.

Hehe. The car has Dell's RS wing which belonged to someone else before him, Mooty consulted on the suspension and Perry/Andrei's gearbox. It really is a small community.

Side Bar for those considering a R & P change:

Matt at Guard has his new 8/33 R & P out and my wrench has been running them in 2 GT3 race cars for several months now without incident. They're a little lower gearing than the cup 8/32, but they should last a lot longer since they're not hitting on the same teeth every rotation. Very valuable mod....

Sorry, forgot to reply to your other questions.

I don't know the service schedule but will look into it.

I was told by the previous owner's mechanic to use the cooler off my current, OEM original transmission.

I have the 996 GT3 RS LWFW sitting in a box in my garage. It will be going in during the install.

Peter did you compare costs versus just the R & P and if so, what did you find?....

Apologies for interrupting the avatar discussion

I didn't get an exact quote comparison although the estimated costs seemed similar. I wanted to have the gearbox refreshed anyway and the additional costs of the gear change was similar to the R&P change. My main motivation was that I liked 2nd right where it was as it is ideal for exiting the slower corners at Miller. I also wanted a shorter 3rd and 4th for better acceleration in those gears, I've yet to get into the new 5th although I will soon at the Edmonton Indy track then again at Miller on the full course in September. Here are the gear charts....

Thanks Peter, I'll find a nice quiet spot and go over the docs. So I guess that it's possible to achieve good gearing without doing the R & P.

As I told Chris, until I do the gears, I'll just have to work on preserving momentum, and improve exit speed... not a bad thing
