Default Toyo R888 or Yok Advan A048??? Can't run the NT01 anymore :(

Going to retire the NT01 from the Turbo. They don't make the sizes I need on the Turbo. I have been running the 235/315 combo and they are just too wide and rub really bad. I need to run the 225/295 combo and both R888 and A048 come in that setup. I know many poo-poo the R888 but looking for some good pro and con of each so I can make an informed decision. Really sucks as I really think the NT01 is the best bang for the buck tire out there.

Or......is there something altogether better than those 2? Remember, this is a stock turbo with the factory sport suspension option so a Hoosier, etc, is totally out of the equation. RA1 would be perfect but their rear size is too tall

TIA!

They are both equally good/terrible.

The yokos last a bit longer.

How come you rub with the 315? odd

The rear tires are rubbing the fender liner in front of the intercooler. The front rub really bad on the front liner and sit just a mm or two away from the spring perch. I am running minimal camber both front and rear. Something like -0.9 degrees.

If only those idiots at PAG would offer a rear seat option. Seriously, how hard would it be to actually OFFER that option. That way, we could safely add the rear seats and drive our kiddos around.

Interesting, I know 2 6TTs running 315/235 without rubbing issues. PS2s and 888s

But I have never seen the NT01 so maybe it's tire dependent.

The wheels have stock offset?

I am running the TR Motorsports wheels from Tire Rack.

The specs are:
8.5 et50
11.5 et43

I also have a 5mm spacer!

They both suck equally. The R888 needs to be shaved if you use it but the sidewall is too hard for the tread compound. The Yoko has less grip than the R888 and makes more noise.

It it were me I would do something to get the tires to fit. There has to be some kind of small modification that you can do to get them to fit?

I'm trying to figure out what I can do to get them to fit but I am at a loss right now. I'm not nearly as concerned about the rear as I am about the front. Maybe I'll just go to the 225 front in the Nitto and the 315 in the rear. Just more trailbraking to get that pig to rotate.

I also thought that GT2 sizes fit the turbos! I'm ready to upgrade my tires...

PSC's??? It's usually warm enough down there and the turbo is heavy enough to put the heat in them that they require.

Rad was raving about RE-11's recently. It would appear the widest thing they have in 18" is a 275 though ?...and if you're going 275 rear then you could just run RA-1's anyhow.

The MPSC is junk and the cost is consistently higher and heat cycle quickly. I'm not running a 275 in the rear.

Always find it odd how polarizing the MPSC can be. Guys seem to be equally divided on the pro/con sides.

I'm not challenging your opinion, I'm just puzzled.

Dell,

You might try the AD08 I know its a street tires but a damn good one. The 295/30 18 rear is 11.5" plus they are better in the wet than the R888 or AO48.

No worries. Each can have an opinion without fear of a beatdown here. Unless of course you like the MPSC j/k

The problem with the MPSC is while it has great grip, that window is very small. It is very temperamental, highly sensitive to temp, break away without warning at times, cost more than other options, and heat cycle into hockey pucks very quickly. Just not worth it when there are such great options like the NT01.

Thanks Peter. I'll probably stick to the DOT-R's since they will go on dedicated track wheels.
