Hi,

Completely stripped interior, except for dash & seats, front trunk area stripped. Carbon bonnet, boot lid, front guards, doors, front & rear bars. Has factory cage incl front half & custom door bars.

Light weight battery, no cats, one single rear after market muffler, coilovers.

Car has to many mods to list but I'm hoping to go lighter this year.

Unfortunately it is having some work done at the moment so I cant get pics, but from the above details I'm sure you can work out what it would look like

I will get some pics when I get it back.

Thread revival,

I'm trying to get 100-150 lbs from my 996 TT. The car is gutted, straight pipe exhaust, rear bumper support removed, no AC front boot stripped to. Open to more suggestions.

I'd like to know how much in terms of wiring changes are required to remove the dash (save instrument cluster) and how much weight is saved. Also how much weight is saved with rear lexan windows over stock.

I started the thread on 6speed, I R Heavychevy. I don't think we ever got to the hardcore stuff like lexan windows and dash removal.

I did find the lexan in the other thread you posted. I guess I'm looking for the more hardcore stuff like jrgordon etc. have on the <2500 lb GT3's and 996's.

Here are some pictures. Crappy cell phone pics, sorry.

Before anyone goes all captain obvious on me, the passenger seat and hood were accounted for in the weight. Those were added as a measure to make my car more than compliant for a NARRA TT event.

With the passenger seat in and a tank full of fuel, the car weighs right at 3000 lbs. I will probably run with about 20-25 lbs of fuel in (4-5 gallons or so) and for sure without the passenger seat for NASA.

I think u got the most basic stuff off to go more you're talking carbon this and that. Lexan doesn't lose much weight but as they say each lb counts esp u start adding total. Are u still on cats? Cat bypass is another 20 lbs. window wiper with motor and bottle is about 17 lbs. Is your front hood stock? That thing is a brick. I take it u got Lw battery? Like Mooty said easy 30 lbs for unnecessary wiring but u better have a guy who knows what to do. If u going full cage u lose lotta weight with carbon/fg doors(stock with windows is about 72 lbs each- carbon is 10 lbs each granted u add back weight with front part of cage but that's 40-50 lbs- still good weight savings. Do u have a lwf? Mike

I have a CF hood, I needed to add a few lbs to eliminate any chances of DQ'ing at the last NARRA event. The CF one will go back on soon.

Wow, 17 lbs for window wiper and bottle, I will definitely try that. Is that including a full washer bottle (mine is empty). Do you still have crash bars in? I have a 16 lb battery, 964 RS LWFW. I know I can lose some weight with with a Tilton clutch and tiny flywheel but with big power and torque I don't want to inherit a maintenance nightmare, but a clutch is likely in my future. I'm thinking about 15 lbs between the clutch and flywheel.

Exhaust is straight pipes (16 lbs total).

When I get a cage I think I will net a gain of a few lbs as I bought gutted doors from Mooty already so I'd be going from gutted doors to CF which won't be as big of a difference, and I can also go CF roof skin as mine is sheetmetal, but that won't make up for the 140 lbs net I will add with a full cage.

The list is growing by the minute, but here is what's on my agenda.

Front Bumper Support - 15lbs
Rear metal fender shield - 5lbs (only one left)
Rear fan and shroud - 10 lbs
Clutch/Flywheel - 15 lbs
Wiring Harness - 30 lbs
Wheel Spacers - 8 lbs
Wiper/ bottle - 17 lbs

That would get me pretty close (not getting into cage stuff just yet).

Mooty's doors if I remember gutted was 40 lbs each. He did an excellent job with those doors. All the crash bars are gone. Are u changing out the steering wheel to a quick release? That should net a few pounds off. With the awd system and turbos- 2800 lbs is not bad at all. I take it u upped the power abit? 2650 in your car would be a monster!!! Mike
