GT3 Lightweight Weight Reduction Thread
I think it is time to start gathering the lightweight parts and weight removal recommendations in one place.
The thread title is to facilitate Search.
I will be editing this thread with the updates you can provide.
Let's start:
Heavy Parts:
- Stock Seats (each) 51 lbs.
- Stock Front wheel: 18" x 8.5" ET 40 24.91 lbs
- Stock Rear wheel: 18" x 11" ET 63 27.34 lbs
- Stock Muffler (each) with Tips: 28 lbs
- Toolbox with all the parts: 9.5 lbs
- Stock Hood: 34 lbs (quartermile)
- Stock Flywheel: 31 lbs
- Stock Wing Element: 8 lbs (quartermile)
- Stock Front Bumper with license plate: 19 lbs
- Stock Rear Bumper with license plate: 12.5 lbs
- Speakers: 0.5 lbs each.
- The infamous Rear seatbelt mount: 1.5 lbs (as a pair)
- Carpet covering rear shocks: 2.5 lbs
- Carpet with GT3 logo: 4 lbs
- Plastic cover below rear window: 1.5 lbs
- Sound Insulation in both rear quarter panels : 1lb
- Rear speaker panels w/o speaker: 4 lbs each
- Battery (12v 60Ah 280A): 35 lbs
- Battery mounting panel: 2.5 lbs
- Floor Mats: 1.5 + 1.5 + 1 + 1: 5 lbs

Dude, appreciate the $7000 wheels, but yer just gettin' started...
(*) Remove glovebox door per RS-- -1 lb.
(*) Remove door map pockets " " -- -2 lbs.
(*) Remove CD magazine-- -2lbs.
(*) Remove boot carpet and tools-- -8 lbs. (?)
(*) Install smaller battery-- -10 lbs.
(*) Remove rear bumper shocks and drill holes in front and rear aluminum subframe boxes-- -5 lbs.
(*) Sub Titanium wheel bolts for steel-- -8 lbs.
(*) Remove fuzzy dice from mirror-- -1/4 lb.
(*) Remove gun rack-- -10 lbs.
(*) Remove Dale Earnhardt memorial vinyl numerals-- -1 oz.
I have more weight-saving tips, but they're secret.

That's a good point about the race headers-- will weigh when I swap out the stockers for longtube headers. Got to be some weight-saving there.

Few items that come to mind not already mentioned with approx. weights
* Sparco seats with fixed mount 22lbs (20lbs with CF shell)
* delete entire glovebox (-8lbs?)
* passenger side airbag -10lbs
* delete cupholder (metal part) -2lbs
* delete visors (-2lbs ?)
* Titanium bolts -- they look cool anyway
* Ciara CD (add 1oz)
* delete gun rack -- oh that was already mentioned

Sorry, but I just can't remove my Earnhardt stickers...probably cost me a .01 sec a lap!! Damn... and BTW, I found a titanium gun rack on some NASCAB site- that should save some weight...

Oh yea of course the CF wing ... 4lbs vs 8lbs sotck.
The Titanium bolts DO NOT save 8lbs ... the savings is may be 1-2lbs. They sure are pretty. Cost is about $500 per set.

Who sell those? The BBS Wheels need longer bolts or studs and they are heavy.
