My wrench Dan Aspesi, owner of Speed Gallery in Studio City, has just finished his latest 6-GT3 stripper. It's going over to Bobby Faieta's shop today to play on his dyno. He'll be testing headers vs OEM, 997 TB vs OEM, and stock DME vs. a GIAC custom program written on their dyno for a previous GT3 build. We'll weigh it sometime during the day, it's expected to weigh 2550 on fumes. I'll take some pics, it has a custom lightweight fiberglass front end and doors, CF roof with decklid and wing, and Lexan all around. He pared the wiring harness down to 6 circuits and removed the dash which is good for about 50 lbs. Any unnecessary metal like brackets, etc. have been removed. Full cage of course.
Pics and results later today....

If u want to keep interior plus trunk only thing is lw battery/exhaust/lwf/wheels. Cheap is gutting interior but don't think u want to do that. Don't u have euro seats? U lost weight there already. Mike

Yes, Full cage and carbon fibre everywhere. Doors, hood, bumper covers and he races it sometimes. Lexan windows, Kill switch, fire supression. he has been out to The 25 Hours of Thunderhill with clients running the race so you could have met him.

OK so the car was even lighter than expected at just under 2500 on fumes. I was premature about paring down the harness, that's next up so it should be down another 50lbs. or so including dumping the gauge cluster for a AIM dash to around 2450....
The donor car had 44k miles on it and dyno'd today all stock except open exhaust at 351whp. With the larger TB, headers, and GIAC flashed ECU it went up to 362 which was disappointing as the previous one went into the 380's. That was on a different type of dyno and this car was on 91 octane both of which may have impacted the results. Some lousy pics....

Thanks. Yes, I have the euro seats, but also a GMG cage. Dunno what the weight gain/loss is there.

Craig - is that a picture of the "torched" GT3 that was the subject of a Rennlist thread a few years back? If I recall, it was stolen in Vegas from a casino and then set ablaze...
Great thread... Please keep it updated! This gets me thinking...
