I thought it was funny how he gave conventional names to other areas of his garage.

yup, its a beautiful thing

and what's better, take this quote to your neighborhood discount tire store and they'll beat it without hesitation! and get it MUCH quicker too no shipping charge! in a couple days they'll have your tires and mount it for you for free. just ask for the guy who does the best mounting and balancing, bring your dismounted wheels to him, and you're set

Update:
I am working closely with John at CCW and based upon his input and RL's was trying to ramp up my knowledge quickly. This stuff never happens when you have a lot of time.
I have not run any other tires based upon a very reputable shops advice in the northeast and have been happy on MPSC's. I have steered clear of HooCrack.
The issue is you cannot get MPSC for 18's any wider than 295. Apparently Michelin closed one factory and only kept the mold for MPSC in 18's for the 295 sizing. Obviously, most cars are going to 19's so that is the background.
In looking to replace my 11" rear John and others made sure I was aware of the issues. It seemed to make sense to go to a 12" wheel because then you could run anyone's 315 rubber and the tires fit a 12" wheel better and therefor work and last better. Perfect if you are never going back to a MPSC 295 and I was about there....
That all sounded good right up to the point I discovered Nitto is not currently making NT-01's and does not even have a production date.
That would have left me with a HooCrack option, 888's (no thanks) Falken's perhaps, Khumo V710's (no rear available either.)
Now, I have decided to replace the rear with another 11" wheel (from CCW of Course!!)
I can run the MPSC 295's I have been getting 60 HC/15 days out of, or I can try the NT-01's when Nitto wakes up and makes more. It is summer Nitto, go on vacation in the winter....
Perhaps I will someday try the HooCrack in 315, or the Nitto 315's which I would love to try at this point, Khumo's when there is a size in stock etc.
I can't run anything until I get a new wheel and I can tell you I am surprised the issues I was not aware of in considering 11's or 12's.
Thanks for "learnin" me, good points all.

I think you made the right choice. Thanks for the update on the Nittos. I just checked Discount Tire Direct's website and they are "low" on stock right now, but not out yet. You can try ordering a set if your MPSC's are getting worn out....but if you do, order them now because once others see your post I expect anyone on the fence will order a set pronto.

Cheers,

Allan,
I called Discount Tire vs just order to make sure. They told me they are "out" with "no production date known," although the salesman said they hope or heard Nitto might start production in 4 weeks which would get them into the pipline in six weeks.

All that is too late for me.

I asked John at CCW if MPSC's 18" 295's will fit on an 11.5" wheel. If so and every 315 out there fits and fits better than an 11", that would be a very nice solution. Mooty pm'd me with this idea or something like it that got me thinking.

The graph Himself provided (very nice) says MPSC rim size is 10-11 so I won't hold my breath and may be driving John at CCW crazy by now anyways.

Either way, Nitto 315's are pretty scarce guys.

this may help.
one of the fastest GT3 driver i know on the west coast used to run 295 hoosiers on his 11" wheels
245/295

so you dont HAVE to run 315 hoohoo, you can do 295.
