Default The damage update

Here are some snaps of my once beautiful - but soon to be beautiful again GT 3 rear end. Looks like buddy clipped the spoiler while scapeing the rear end...shoved the car forward forcing the front spoiler on a curb scratching the underside of it. He says he arrived at the PO's office to pick up the car and the rear deck spoiler was in the back seat and the front one leaning on the car....as unbelievable as this sounds. Given I had the car inspected last week - and the PO is a Dr....it is the Doc's word against the driver....and the driver DID NOT photo and sign off the car prior to loading it...which we all know to be the cardinal rule in the shipping world.

Have any of you ever seen these exhaust tips before? Are they OEM?

Those tips are definitely not oem. I'm just trying to pic how in heck rear lid and wing was damaged- they put tie downs on the uprights or he backed out of garage that's half opened. Kinda blows but fixable. U may want to ask bout the tips- is it aftermarket exhaust. Mike

Not nice! Hope you get it all sorted out. You've been real busy buying red 911's.

Again sorry for your pain...... get it fixed and we'll see you at Calabogie this summer.

Cheers,
Geoff

Damn sorry to hear about this. Hope it all gets worked out.

The tips almost look like oem tips turned upside down. Knowing the design that's impossible to do though.

Mooty...I used a very reputable Canadian customs/ transport facilitator to manage the process in importing the car on my behalf. Given my conversation with them on Friday evening, they seem intent on coming good on the repair and dealing with their sub-contractor directly...and if that is the case, I will be sure to scream their virutes to the Board. They hired the vehicle trucking firm out of GA who picked up the car. I have to be fair here in that the trucker swears up and down the car was like that on his arrival - as bizarre as that sounds. He did not take photos or get his shipping records done prior to loading the car - or contact his boss to indicate there was a problem citing the fact that they pick up cars in pieces all the time. All we know is that the car was fine Friday and now this last Wednesday. Incidently, a Transport inspector detained the truck and driver that night because he had logged too many hours - had to stay at a rest stop until 4:00 p.m. Thursday when he had picked up my car at 11:00 p.m. WEdnesday to me indicating his state of mind/ body.

Thanks Geoff...ridiculous as it sounds, I bought "Little Red" (the 993) to track - added aerokit and lowered it while it was in the US - but in the interim got hooked on the concept of the GT3 - and this board - so sought out a GT3 and well here I am. I am selling Little Red when it arrives here knowing that the Canadian Market will be keen on a 993 high mileage but perfect perfect documentation history and exterior/ interior at that price point. Over my 'DE lifespan', the GT3 is a much better option - short term cashflow notwithstanding.

The PO is a Dr. in smalltown VA so I had to count on a PPI from a non Porsche mechanic up the road from the clinic owned by the PO. I am counting on bulletproof nature of the GT3 (@31000 miles) not to give me any surprises when it gets home. I don't suppose anyone knew this car..?

What a mess, sorry. The tips appear to be 997 C2 (non S) tips, not a good look for the car. It wouldn't be too difficult to find the appropriate tips, since the 996 mk2 C2's share the same part.

Thanks for that - and yes you are correct. Since the posting I have spoken with the shop where the PO had the car serviced who confirms they are off a 997. I had forgotten that I have a nice set of OEM large ovals that were on my 996 before I put the Ruf exhaust on it - they cost me a small fortune back then when I bought them and will be a perfect fit to the shape of the outlet ..!

Can't wait to get the car in the body shop..

sorry to see your misfortune,

but at least it just looks cosmetic and should be able to be repaired without noticing.

Did the pick up location have surveillance cameras?

I think this is only the second GT3 deck lid I have seen separated like that, inner shell from outer, wow!
