Dreams Do Come True! Newbie Self Introduction!
Hi all,
Figured that a quick self introduction is in order here. Name is Eric. Been mostly lurking around for a few yrs (signed up for Rennlist in '07, doing mostly reading in the GT2/GT3 forums.. occasionally posting posts to tell OG that GT-R isn't the anti-Christ.. )
A life long gearhead (a former aerospace engineer now working in the financial industry), I have always loved the idea of a GT3. Lightweight, no-nonsense driver's car, proven racing drivetrain, from a company that has a motorsport heritage that's unmatched by most.
Unlike many here that buy/sell GT3s like they are candies, I never thought that one day I would actually own one when I started doing research a couple of years ago. It was more like a dream goal for me. As the 997 MK1 and MK2 being released, the 996 GT3s have came down to a price level that is reachable by me. So I waited and waited, and finally pulled a trigger on a '05 Carrara White GT3 that's full of Rennlist history!
The car was previous owned by MJSpeed, 930man, and then Modoc! (geez, being passing around like this, eh?! )
Edit: I think it is actually not MJSpeed's GT3, as I found out later from an old pic that his did not have PCCB..
Anyway, the transaction was simple and painless. Joe (Modoc) was absolutely first class to deal with. The car was picked up this past Saturday from the dealer that did the inspection and warranty works. Drove 900 miles home from KY to MA!
Here it is!!

When I was picking up the car, there was a C-GT over there being serviced. Was told that the car had some body panel damage as the gardener ran into it with the lawnmower! Ouch!!

When I picked the car up, the car had about 14.3k miles. Now it is over 15k after the long drive home.
My parents were in town visiting so I dragged my dad to go pick up the car with me. We flew in and drove it home (I did all the driving). My dad was quite a trooper! 69 yrs old, and endured the ride and noise of the 996 GT3 for 900 miles. It was a great father / son bonding time!
When I first fired up the engine at the dealer, my dad asked me if the exhaust system is broken.
More pic.. it has a Teq bar on the back!

Just kidding.. Mooty you have been a great help. Thanks!!

Great car - cool colour.
Now for that set of carbon wing mirror housings and an RS rear wing - oh - better set out some time for fitting the front grills (make your own!) to protect the radiators - dont forget the Alcon front disks and Pagid RS29 pads. (save the ceramics)
That will do for now.....

Hey, I recognize that car......from behind at least. Matt was one of the first guys to show me around VIR! Congrats, and welcome aboard. As I am sure you know, the GT3 board is a great group of guys.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the kind words!
It does have a set of radiator grill already! (good thing about buying from a fellow Rennlist member, they know what's up!)
It also has the Cup brake duct.. here's the stock one that's also included.. !
Modoc did some mods to the rear suspension. Mono-ball upper mounts, sway bar links, as well as toe-links!
