Chuck,

The car is track dedicated, former GT3-S class. The brake conversion will be done in time for my trip to VIR in May with FSR. Pads will be RS-29s or PF97s. The 29s came with the calipers and are almost new. The 97s are new. I need to have someone look at the Pagids before I decide because they look funny to me. I am not familiar with Pagids as I have only used PF and Hawk in the past. I did post pictures of them on the racing board and they said the pads looked normal. If they are, then I will use them first.

I will update with specific rotor weights, pads, etc after the event.

So I see that KJ was ******* you at VIR . . . it will me my turn to dog him in May

Marc

Ordered a set of these ATE rotors from Amazon.com. I don't need it in a hurry, so I can wait.. later this year, maybe at the end of the season, I will take out the front PCCB and replace them w/ these ATEs... then I can run the pads down a little bit more instead of taking them out at 50%...

Rotor weights today:

- Brembo 2-piece floaters (coming off): 21.5 lbs
- OEM Porsche GT3 drilled: 24 lbs

Next set for me will be Girodiscs as soon as negative cash-flow eases a bit (due to weight alone).

Chuck, increase value added by drilling the positioning screw holes into the ATE discs. Easy to do, and makes these an even more direct replacement.

I bet you sell a tonne.

Why not just replace the brembo floaters with brembo? Are they insanely pricey?

Thanks, but everyone has a template in the removed disc. Just that not everyone might want to do this, or feel up to it (not that it's very complicated).

I used an old cup hub with studs and dropped in in from behind the disc, it was nicely centered, and just drilled a pilot hole through both.

Now, getting the ceramic plugs to stay put while reassembling, that was another story, sheesh.

Cheers! creative thinking on your part. Did you have any difficulty with drilling or counter sinking for the screw heads? Is this the first time you've used these rotors? Chuck

Another "value add" might be finding an aftermarket 350x28 disc from another Pcar that will work on the rear. I think someone mentioned that the Panamera uses a 350x28 disc, but I don't recall more than that.

I drilled a little hole in my ATE rotors the first time I used them and it was easy. Cast iron is soft. I posted the drill bits here a while back, but I used 1/4" for the through hole and some larger bit (I can't remember) for the countersink. Now that I'm running studs I'm not bothering with the little hole.

Cheers,
