2001 996 GT2?
My search continues . . .
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...em=#ht_500wt_0
I thought the 996 started in 2002?
I like the steel brakes
What manipulation could take place which would supposedly add about 100 HP?
I personally don't like engine mods, but for those of you in the know, would the claimed horsepower (or anything else about this "car to the stars") be a red flag?

I like the color. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to find one with steel brakes. You can convert a PCCB car to steel rotors fairly inexpensively which looks like what has been done on this car.
Good luck!
EDIT: I guess it came without PCCB rotors?

2001 was in Europe, as you can see in the description he couldn't wait for a US car, so imported one over euro spec.
I am also running 3 piece gt3 cup rotors on my 2 instead of the ceramics!

I have heard 2 stories, 1) ceramics or steel were options in europe or 2)some cars got delivered with steel brakes because ceramics weren't ready at first

Thanks for all the replies. Here's what I found out since. The dealer emailed me a told me that the 996 came out in 2000 in Europe. (I didn't know that). The car came from the factory with steel brakes. I don't know whether this was an option or due to a lack of supply. My concern is only that they are factory brakes as opposed to some aftermarket mod. I will follow va122's advice and call alex at sharkworks for the scoop on the engine upgrades. va122 has been PM'd.

I have no doubt you possess a fantastic car, but I'm looking for a non-tracked GT2 and, notwithstanding the recent election, black (as far as cars) is my least favorite color.

The first articles I have about 996 GT2 are from October 2001, here in Europe, but it concerns 2002 MY cars.
What is the VIN of this car?
Sorry if if it is on Ebay but I can't see it from my work.

I'm trying to get the dealer to email me the VIN. The VIN listed on Ebay comes up as "invalid" when I put it through Nevada's DMV system. There may be a typo. I'm following up.

It should be a ROW VIN (as opposite to a US/CDN one), like wp0zzz99z2s69XXXX.
You surely have an error return to your request because the ROW VIN doesn't match a "check digit" rule.
