Default Hello From Calgary, Canada

I picked up my first Porsche a few weeks ago and can't stop driving it, 6GT3 with ~6K miles. What a Porsche baptism! My previous car was a '05 M3 6spd which I adored too but I couldn't pass up this oppurtunity to experience such a wonderful piece of automotive history.

The only complaint I have so far about the car is the amount of attention it gets around here (apparently only a handful in our city of 1M plus) and major brake dust/squeaking, almost embarrassing at times.

Manny

Congrats Manny, nice car. Just wondering if that's the car from Kulu.

Congrats on the new car. I can't give much on the attention but as for the brake pads, swap them with stock pads and you'll be fine.

Yes, it was. Great guy and a very mint local car for 75K.

Hmm, I assumed it has stock pads because the car looks very much stock other than a slight drop.

Manny,

Congratulations!

I came "this close" to buying that car. Distance between Montreal and Calgary did not make things easy to do so.

I picked up a VERY similar Arctic Silver 996GT3 about two weeks ago, so I am probably as stoked as you are.

If you would like, PM me your email, like that we could compare notes on the car idiosynchracies and what-nots before polluting this forum .

Congratulations again!

David

LOL Well, I'm planning on keeping her for a couple of years and then sell it. It'll definately be babied and still have less than 15K Kms by then so we'll talk later if you're interested.

The funny thing is that I went to look at a C4S he had for sale when Kulu made me very curious about what the GT3 was really all about. One test drive. That's all it took to get me hooked. That bastard.

Congrats, David! I'll PM you.

You missed out on a very clean car but I'm sure you did well with yours too. Kulu mentioned there were a couple of guys from Montreal and Toronto after the car too. I ended up getting her just in time before it was snatched up by a Edmonton Porsche dealership that was going to flip her for 85K to a guy. $78,750 tax included and I'm one very happy camper right now.

Our groceries bill is now going through the roof because I keep asking my wife to bring a few boxes of those swifter dusters for the brake dust. It works great but you have to keep on top of it.

Congratulations on a fine piece of automobile!
No such thing as polluting a forum with car questions. Feel free to ask them and perhaps someone else will also learn from your questions and the answers you'll get.

P.S However, you need to contribute with pictures of your newly acquired toy, or we shall refuse to answer any questions at all. Same goes for you Manny, that picture is way too small

Thank-you Rassel/Magnus !

At the risk of appearing to hijack Manny's thread... here's a photo of my brake dust propagating Cream-Puff. ;-)

2 ways to get rid of the noise...wash the car if you have iron rotors (rust will take the glaze off that causes the squeal) or bed them in again properly (creates lots of dust though).

Congrats on the car. I've had mine for 4 years and still love it like the day I picked it up new at the dealer.
