Why do people fake badge a GT3 a GT3RS?

I'm thinking about putting some martini stripes on my matte grey metallic wrapped 6.3! You guys wi probably give me a hard time? LOL.

So I was at the Lowe's Motor Speedway post-Parade DE this past weekend and there was another beautiful speed yellow GT3 there and when I got closer I noticed there was something wrong. At first glance it looked just like mine (SY, CF wing) but then there were 3 things that just made me shake my head.
1. GT3RS side foils
2. GT3RS decklid badge
3. Personalized plate that reads "GT3RS"
So my question is why? The only person (sure there might be a small number of exceptions to this rule) that really knows the difference between at GT3 and GT3RS is the Porsche enthusiast so why do this to your car when those of us in the know just shake our heads?
I didn't take a picture of it but here is a screen capture from some video when we were on track together.
