The good news is that you are okay!

I had a cheap Chinese jack come down and pin me under its handle when it dropped. I was not seriously hurt, but I learned a lesson.

Don't cheap out on a jack! Your life depends on your equipment and a $100 jack is not worth the savings you imagine. Expect to spend $300 and up, which is probably less than the damage you have.

Good luck!

You need the DK13HLQ. I know it's expensive, but you really get what you pay for. It reaches under the car no problem. Trust me the first time you use it you'll have wood! It's that good.

i have two DK20 and two DK13. i use the short one (13) to jack the rear jack pt in front of rear wheel and use the long (20) to jack the engine case. but either jack will work for the entire car. if you only have short one, once you jack at the rear jacking point, put a jack stand up front and put 2x6 under rear tire before you release the jack, such that you have enough clearance to stuff the short jack under the engine case (above description would only make sense if you know the sequence of how to jack the car up. )

i bought my from ultimate garage, they come with a rubber pad on the jack cradle. if you dont have one, just get a hockey puck.

also i use AC flat top jack stands. i heard they are now discontinued. you may be able to find some used ones. again, the BEST jack stand ever.

Have a Sears aluminum jack. Same deal w/ the release. Works best if the handle is parallel to the ground. However, I just had simple brain fade and lowered the car onto a jack I had thought I kicked far enough away. But no I now have an $800 dent in my rstarboard rocker panel. How much did I save by installing a new suspension my self?

Default Floor Jack Plate Adapter for 986, 987, 996, 997, GT2, GT3

Saw this jack plat at the Glen last week. Very cool, and probably worth having. It won't slip as a hockey puck can. Find it here: http://eagleday.stores.yahoo.net/carrera9971.html

Fellows,

I have a US General 91039 jack which I have successfully used for 2+ years. It is light and small -- I can put it into the "back seat" area of the GT3 (and I have a rollbar installed.)

It is low enough that it easily fits under the GT3 without ramps or anything.

And it's cheap! about $100. I'm very pleased with it.
