Here's a pic lifted from somewhere (probably here) that shows the zip ties. It looks like this fellow used to use the single plastic rivet connection (on the right of the pic) but it tore off. I see a broken duct at that point.

Martin, that is a nice DIY and thanks for posting it up.
QUESTION: which would be a preferred duct for a 996 GT3, the 997 GT3 duct or a 996 Cup duct. I have read they will both fit?

It depends on the cooling requirements. Personally, I think unless you are tracking the car hard with a serious need for cooling then your stock ducts are fine as the 7GT3 ducts really aren't any larger. Now the Cup ducts are massive and really help with the cooling and prolong the life of your rotors. They are pricey at $125 each ($250 a set). Also, if you are concerned about clearance issues, then understand that the Cup ducts give you about 2 inches of ground clearance.....so keep that in mind.
Me? I have the Cup ducts. At least the last time I checked the underside of my car

Wow, so of these old threads with my questions are coming back
I installed the 996 Cup ducts and had an opportunity to use them on 3 consecutive track days last weekend. I highly recommend them as they seem to help quite a bit over stock ducts.

Dell, that is a great question: "It depends on the cooling requirements"
Maybe this will help, PCA - HPDE - Advance run group, they went from 20 to 25 minutes and it has been known to be 95 degrees here in Portland (96 at an earlier event this year).
With that being known, should I worry?
The brakes felt good, but I did notice more brake dust with the longer sessions.
God I love this car! What a dream...................

Also, is there any other parts needed to put these on (lost one today myself).
Thanks.

IIRC, the RS ducts were the SMALLEST of the bunch. Somebody bought a set here and then posted pics disappointed they were no better than stock!
The order from smallest to largest (IIRC) was RS, stock, Cup.

You can also get them from GMG. They're across the street from PMNA, who won't sell to you directly. Typically you'd have to pay two shipping fees if you get it from your dealer since they would have them shipped to them.
