My search of the forum was unsuccessful... Can someone confirm if this is the pollen filter (to filter air going into the cabin), 996 GT3?

Also, am I missing a lid/cover that goes over the filter or is the filter really supposed to sit "exposed" as seen in the pic below?

You got it right, pollen filter. I think the only cover is the one you pulled to access that area. You did pull one for that, right? order a new one on line and pop it in. Simple.

Yep, I did pull a "larger" cover to access that area.

So apparently there is no other cover specific to the pollen filter, thanks for your help!

I have not replaced mine yet (supposedly it was changed out by the dealership when they CPO'd the car).

I did replace mine but have now forgotten where I got it from and did not save the box for the part number. I have purchased many items from different places but Pelican is pretty good. I just do not remember running into figuring out what option 571 is so I don't think I got it from here. I lost the box but if someone (or Pelican) can clarify which part number you need then here is the link.

So as to not give you bad info.....I called Pelican. The Porshe guy was busy. The guy I got said he did not even list a GT3 for this part and did not want to guess if the 996 part fit or not. I'll bet mine came from my dealer along with replacement oil drain seals that I'm now remembering having trouble identifying from other sources. I remember it being around $50-55.00. Pelican, Sunset and Suncoast Porsche along with TRG have been my suppliers along with my dealer who I am quite pleased with, Pepe Porsche White Plains, NY

Many thanks!....im sure its a 996 part...the part number is on the filter...so which ever car they match up to is fine....I know it fits...im staring at it....DUH!
