Default Traqmate users....do you have the RPM input?

Here is a link to the part: Traqmate RPM input

If so, where are you tapping into the RPM signal?

I am thinking of adding the Traqvision software but feel it is worthless without adding the RPM input.

TIA!

I use the DL-1 rather than Traqmate, and get the RPM signal from the wiring harness. If you want to know which wire to tap into, I'll look it up again. Let me know if you're interested.

Dell,

From another post it was verified to be the following (I happened to save this for my future use) : use pin #9 on the OBD port which is the green/purple wire on MY 04 GT3.

This is from another post (haven't installed mine yet, so don't know if it'll work):

To get a tach signal from a Porche 996 Turbo tap into wire E-6 (Green with blue tracer) from the ECU. This is the No 1 ignition pulse wire and will give a good signal to Traqmate.

This also works for a 997S and may work on most others, at least 996 and newer. The colors are the same on these two, I don't know about others.

There are five plugs into the ECU and E is the last one to the outside of the car, but it's really pretty obvious once you get to the box.

I can double-verify pin 9 on the OBD port, I've been using it for over a year with my G2X. A lot less risky than playing with DME wiring, in my opinion. Also completely removable if you use an OBD plug - if concerned about warranty.

What's an "OBD plug"?

Why would you run that entire assembly when all you need is to tap into pin 9? I can just see my leg breaking that off during a session.

I agree, but how about putting a pin adapter at the end of the rpm device wire to slip onto pin 9?

"I can just see my leg breaking that off during a session."

Good point, but there is also a right angle connector that might be better for you.

http://www.obd2connectors.com/Standard-kit.htm

Of course for me it would not be my leg breaking it, it would be the passenger's.

I have been thinking about building a breakout box next to the DME to get access to the sensor's the car already has without cutting in to the harness - baumtools.com make several for motronic diagnostic purposes, and some mods would be needed - similar to a piggyback computer - www.dastek.co.za, but instead of haveing the computer in line, just haveing the connectors to the logger.

That;s going to take a while I fear - got to finish fixing the baby room up first.... LVDELL - your time is coming for that - I have 3 weeks left of freedom.
