I have 3 months of freedom! I have been busy getting the room ready, buying clothes, painting, going to prenatal classes, etc, etc, etc.. Geez, the baby isn't even here yet and I am popped!

v12's link to the right angle one is exactly what I got. It only sticks out about 1/2" or so. Wire comes out the left side, and tucks easily behind the carpeting. Not in the way at all. I'll take some pix and post after work. This plug is pretty snug, I've heard that some OBD plugs aren't and can easily fall out.
Dell, I suppose you can just use a pin if you want, but you'd have to tape over it to help hold it in place. It's a fairly big pin, though, and doesn't seem to have a lot of friction (and the holes point downwards too). And you have to remember which hole #9 is.
Other route is to splice into the wire, but it's a rather tight bundle back there so I didn't bother (and I'm trying to avoid cutting whenever possible).

Where did you purchase yours from? Thanks for taking the pics and posting them up. That is going to be my next project!

I bought from the company in v12's link, Peake Research. Just note, they have a minimum order size, so you'll have to order a few kits. But there are enough people who want them, shouldn't be hard to find a few takers to divy up the order. Every now and then I still get PMs from people who want to know if I still have an extra one leftover.

Thanks for the heads up. So, do you have any left over?

Dell - I've got a cable similar to the one above. Only difference is it has a right hand plug that goes into OBD port...so it doesn't stick out, so smaller chance of getting knocked loose. I bought it to get an RPM signal for my G2X, but doesn't work. Found out too late that the 997 GT3 runs off of CAN bus, and can't get an RPM signal from ODB port. It's yours if you want it...I've got no use for it now.

Here's some photos of the plug in place. The OBD port is way left above the fuse box, and not really kickable or kneeable - it's about mid shin, so unless you have *really* short calves, there's no way you're going to knee it.

Running the cable out the left side allows it to go right behind the carpeting so little loose wire. I route the cable around the footwell to the center console, then back along the passenger side of the tunnel.

The RPM cable gets plugged into a small electronics project box which also takes in +12V power from a switched cig lighter plug. The box has output cables/connectors to the G2X (combined power and RPM signal), 12V power to my bullet cam, and 5V power to my Aiptek MPEG recorder (which records video from the bullet cam). I had to put together a 12v->5v power transistor circuit for the recorder.

I found a link with what appears to be all the connectors in the OBD port - you could also take power from the port - pin 16.

http://www.cb-racing.com/boxster_OBDii.html

I would also like some of those plugs if anyone is getting I am in for a couple.

PM cgomez. He has a 997 Carrera S with Traqmate and the RPM input installed.

Thanks Rad. I am going to use the OBD plug I am getting from Ryan and will go with the "pin #9" that others have confirmed.

Default OK. Stupid Question.

Is it possible to run a wire directly from the OBDII pin 9 to the hole in the Traqmate that corresponds to where the TraqTach input would be? Or, is there some chip inside of the TraqTach module that converts the input from the OBDII ot something that can be used by the Traqmate sensor unit?

I would assume you need the Traqtach add-on. A quick call to TM would clear that up.
