Frankly, rather than a shift light, I'd like an idiot (me) light indicating what gear I'm in.

Sort of an expensive proposition, but it does provide much more than shift lights - G2X data acquisition unit (I have no affiliation with the company)

Shift points can be programmed for each gear, are progressive, and shift lights are very bright. Also connects to the wiring harness of the car without much fanfare. I have one mounted above the steering wheel (in the GT-2), and the other on the far left side of the dash (GT-3RS). Besides the shift lights, you get rpms, GPS speeds, lateral gs, etc.

Very cool stuff, actually something I might be interested in. Thanks, will look into this.

Looks like I'm not the only one to try the 6th to 7th shift after some time on the highway.

Default G2X Install

Some examples: I also have another install where the display is located on top of the dash in the far left corner.

It replaces the tach and can also give you lap times etc if you choose to. It has programmable shift lights and it works like a charm. My car is a stock engine etc so when the open megaphones are next to me , I too cannot hear a thing from my engine. The shift lights catch your attention for sure...
Stack is bad ***. I commend you on your choice! Very nice.

I like the OMEX sequential shift light, cheap and it looks good, available (among other places) from Demon Tweeks in the U.K. (Sorry, no droll comments today, we're in information mode... )
