Oil leak... and should I go for a single mass flywheel?
When I looked under my car today I found a puddle of oil the size of a palm. The car wasn't moved over the last 2 months, so there was enough time for drips to collect on the garage floor.
It seems the oil is coming from somewhere between the engine and the gearbox, but it's hard to track (even if I cleaned the engine from the underside a while ago). On the picture you can see drops hanging on the lower pats of the engine (marked with the red arrows):
And I thought when changing from a 996 C2 to the GT3 I don"t have those leaks any more So far the car is under warranty, so I don't worry for the cost, but it is still annoying....
Questions:
- Is this typical? Where could it come from?
- In case it is the RMS like on the M96 engines, the engine and the gearbox have to be separated. If the stuff is apart, would it be worthwile to upgrade to a single-mass flywheel? I assume it would cost me only the parts, not too much labour as the dealer needs to repair it anyway. What parts would I need in this case?
Cheers from a slightly frustrated owner

ok, so if the RMS is the culprit the dealer has some work
In this case it could make sense to replace the flywheel to a single mass unit. Does somebody know about the cost for such a unit (and is this the RS part?)?

I think it's about 2k USD for the RS flywheel and clutch. They are installing it now and just found the RMS is leaking for the 3rd time. Guess I should have waited for another puddle!
I bought mine from Austin at TRG or you could go to

if you are in Europe.

I put the RS flywheel and clutch in my 05 GT3 and then developed a front main seal leak. I really like the flywheel action. I also did the Cup Gears. Once you get used to the rattlin' noises you'll be okay.
