Allan - There is some good news. If you switch to steel you can use 996 cup rotors in front and 997 cup rotors in the rear. That way you don't have to change the rear calipers. You will have 350 mm dia. steel all around and they are a direct bolt on replacement for the Gen 1 PCCB. when I converted, I had to change my rear calipers to use 996 GT3 rear rotors which are only 330 mm in diameter.
As to pads, I would consult Pagid. I use my Rs19s on the street and they don't squeal. On the other hand my wife's car with the identical set up does. I cannot explain why.
Best,

Bob, thanks for the help re rotors. I'm at 3400 miles on 05 gte with pccb. Planning on a few de's this year and if I learn to drive this dream car , plan to change to steel over the winter. Where do you recommend purchasing cup rotors and pagid pads?

Hi,
Have been told from sources within PAG that the major problem with the Gen I is that the ABS control unit that engages incorrectly (too early), resulting in the pads start hammering the discs that then start to chip/flake and then grinds the pad down, causing the ABS to hammer even more and from there on it just gets worse.
Ciao,
J.

The problem is that Porsche is unwilling to reveal any of their understanding of the issue. My guess is to avoid any trail to "poor" original design liability. Just say No.
If I have it to do over again, I would not have taken delivery with PCCB. GEN II maybe but with an $8,300 addition to the price AND $5,400 per rotor replacement cost ????

Even though I knew of the "track record" of the PCCB set up I still wanted it. Of course I knew whatever GT3 I bought would only get limited track time (I have a rude racecar already).
PCCB had an allure that I could not ignore. It would not effect resale value for me. Maybe I am not normal.
