Many options:

RS flywheel
Wheels
battery
CF hood
2pc rotors
Seats
Mufflers

Just to name a few, sure there are many more.

Undrivable car in the street? Do you mean like the 996 GT3?
Ray has a good start.
Unload the sun roof motor
sport cats
remove sound barrier under the carpeting
can you lose some lbs of body weight?

be great!!

roberga...have n't driven a 996 GT3..i have a 997S but something like the 996GT3 or rougher should be ok...i meant not throw out everything and turn it into a car i have to trail to the track

did you mean me lose weight? or the car body?

Just a guess as to weight savings:

Battery @ 12 lbs
Flywheel 12 Lbs
Wheels 5-8 lbs ea.
Rotors 3-4 lbs ea. (ceramic more)
Seats ?
CF Hood ? maybe 10 lbs
Mufflers 25 lbs total

These are approximate 996 GT3 numbers, 997 should be similar, but should give you an idea as to what you are dealing with.

Here's something to start with (and approximate numbers):

Change the roof (~30 lbs)
Change the seats (~5s lbs)
RS flywheel (~15 lbs?)
CF Hood (~15 lbs)
Race cats & straight pipes (no mufflers) (~30 lbs)
Battery (15 lbs)
Trunk carper (5 lbs)
Motorsport steering wheel (7 lbs & huge disclaimer: if you install non airbag steering wheel, you might kill yourself in no time!)
"993 RS" Door panels ( 15 lbs)
Keep only door speakers (15 lbs)

That's about 200 lbs and IMO no compromise to the street driving (maybe sound a little).

FYI, I'm sure roberga was just kidding, 996 GT3 and 997 GT3 as well (although I haven't driven 997 version yet) are very comfortable on street.

finn, yes I was dumping on all of the people that whinned cried and traded in their 996 GT3s because it was too harsh for their bottoms.
KR: I was asking if you could lose som weight. I need to loss some 20 pounds. I will save money on food and will have more to spend on the car.

Having a GT3 I can tell you that it is a grea car for me. Very streetable in Seattle. It would be a pain in the *** in downtown San Fran, but still worth it.

Weight savings planned for my incoming RS:

1: race cats and straight pipes 30 ,2:Suzuka Cobras (if they fit) 60-70, 3:PCCB's 44, 4: take everything out of the trunk 10- 15, 5: delete stereo ( totally useless and uneccessary on RS) 25, 6: May remove carpet and sound ins. on floor along with mats 15, 7: no rollbar. 8: racing battery 15. Total is around 200. These are things I wanted to do with my '04 GT3 but didn't. It is still unknown if the US gets lwfw - I shore hope.

What he meant were 993 RS "type" interior door panels.

As MJ said,

You can't fit 993 RS door panels to 996/997 cars but we're working on it (= creating door panels similar to 993 RS panels for 996 & 997 cars).

Here's what I wrote back in January of this year...number 6 and 12 have taken on new meaning...the bhp figures are close enough...

"
1) 3.8L producing 430 bhp or more (it will be true dry sump derived from 964/GT1 block)
2)RS (996 GT3RS) type suspension or better
3) 3000 lbs or less
4) Carbon Fibre hood
5) Carbon Fibre decklid with cup car intake
6) NO SUNROOF or SAT NAV and NO CUP HOLDERS (on principle)
7) AC and Radio delete options
8) PCCB (optional)
9) DSG/PDK (optional)
10) No sound deadening junk
11) Interior of doors like the 993 RS but with Alcantara (optional)
12) Carbon Fibre roof ala 2006/7 BMW M6
13) No power windows (optional) (weight saving purposes)
14) Super light weight wheels
15) Light Fly wheel
16) Carbon Fibre fenders
17) Titanium exhaust
18) Light weight Seats (two only of course)"

Do this and you'll significantly reduce weight...
